2009/07/14 City Council Resolution 2009-64s i RESOLUTION NO. 2009— A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROHNERT PARK Honoring and Thanking Michael D. Hickman ON THE OCCASION OF HIS RETIREMENT FOR HIS 13 YEARS OF DEDICATED SERVICE TO THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS WHEREAS, Michael D. Hickman began his career with the City of Rohnert Park as a Maintenance Worker II in the Department of Public Works Water Division on October 1, 1995, exercised his mechanical abilities in the Wastewater Division, and served as Interim Lead Worker in the Water Division; and WHEREAS, around the Department of Public Works, Michael was known as the "Pipe Fitting King" for exemplifying perfection in the application of purple primer and rector seal techniques; and WHEREAS, over the years, Michael has proven to be a dedicated, hard working employee, contributing generously to the health and well -being of the City of Rohnert Park. His list of accomplishments is long and his contributions are many. Suffice it to say that we have been very fortunate to have benefited from Michael's plethora of skills and talents; and WHEREAS, during his thirteen years of service to the City, Michael always arrived to work thirty minutes early to read the newspaper and to enjoy his wife's home cooked breakfast in front of others who often voiced how spoiled he was by his wife; and WHEREAS, Michael enjoyed telling a good story and always started them off by saying, "Have I ever told you the story of when I "... His favorite is when he was employed at Mare Island and cut a submarine in half, lengthened it, and then welded it back together. He will also be remembered as the sub cutter. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the members of the City Council of the City of Rohnert Park extend their gratitude to Michael D. Hickman for his exceptional service to the City and wish him continued success in his future endeavors. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council and his many friends and co- workers wish Michael and his wife, Lupe, the best of luck, vigorous health, and the time to do all of those things that they always have wanted to do but haven't had the time.
