RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROHNERT PARK
AUTHORIZING PAT MILLER, CARLOS DEZA, LEONARD CARLSON, BRIAN
MASTERSON, AND SHAWN JACKSON TO SUBMIT AND SIGN A REBUTTAL ARGUMENT
TO THE ARGUMENT AGAINST MEASURE E, THE ROHNERT PARK ESSENTIAL CITY
SERVICES TEMPORARY FUNDING MEASURE, TO BE SUBMITTED TO THE VOTERS AT
THE CONSOLIDATED PRIMARY ELECTION TO BE HELD ON JUNE 8, 2010
WHEREAS, on February 23, 2010, the City Council voted unanimously to submit to the voters at
the Consolidated Primary Election to be held on June, 8, 2010, a measure relating to the adoption of a
transactions and use tax titled "Rohnert Park Essential City Services Temporary Funding, Measure"
( "Measure E ");
WHEREAS, California Elections Code section 9282(b) authorizes the City Council to submit ballot
arguments for measures placed on the ballot by the legislative body;
WHEREAS, on March 9, 2010, the City Council approved and authorized submittal of a ballot
argument in favor of Measure E on behalf of the City Council as a legislative body, which argument was
fled with the elections official on March 22, 2010;
WHEREAS, on March 22, 2010, an argument against Measure E was filed with the elections
official;
WHEREAS, California Elections Code section 9285 authorizes the authors. or a majority of the
authors of an argument relating to a city measure to prepare and submit a rebuttal argument or to authorize,
in writing, any other person or persons to prepare, submit, or sign a rebuttal argument; and
WHEREAS, on March 29, 2010, the City Council received a request from Pat Miller, Rohnert Park
Business Owner; Carlos Deza, Senior Advisory Commission Member; Leonard Carlson, Mobile Home
Owners Association; Brian Masterson, 25 years Law Enforcement; and Shawn Jackson, Chamber of
Commerce Member requesting authorization to sign a rebuttal argument to the argument against Measure E.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Rohnert Park that it
hereby authorizes Pat Miller, Rohnert Park Business Owner; Carlos Deza, Senior Advisory Commission
Member; Leonard Carlson, Mobile Home Owners Association; Brian Masterson, 25 years Law Enforcement;
and Shawn Jackson, Chamber of Commerce Member to submit and sign a rebuttal argument to the argument
against Measure E, the Rohnert Park Essential City Services Temporary Funding Measure, to be submitted to
the voters at the consolidated primary election to be held on June 8, 2010.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that said rebuttal argument shall not exceed 250 words, shall be
signed by no more than five authors, and shall be fled with the elections official no later than 5:00 p.m. on
April 1, 2010.
DULY AND REGULARLY ADOPTED by the Rohnert Park City Council this 29th day of March,
2010.
