A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROHNERT PARK
ADOPTING REGULATIONS FOR CANDIDATES FOR ELECTIVE OFFICE
PERTAINING TO CANDIDATES' STATEMENTS FOR
THE GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION TO BE HELD ON NOVEMBER 2, 2010
WHEREAS, the governing body of any local agency is required to adopt regulations pertaining
to materials prepared by any candidate for a municipal election, including costs of the candidate's
statement.
WHEREAS, the City will be holding a General Municipal Election on Tuesday, November 2,
2010, for the purpose of electing two (2) City Council Members; and
WHEREAS, Elections Code Section 13307 requires that, if the candidate wishes to file a
candidate statement, it shall be filed in the office of the elections official no later than the 88th day before
the election.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City. Council of the City of Rohnert Park
does hereby resolve, declare, determine and order as follows:
SECTION 1. Each candidate for elective office may prepare a candidate's statement on an
appropriate form provided by the City Clerk.
SECTION 2. The candidate shall file the candidate's statement no later than 5:00 p.m. on
August 6, 2010, unless extended pursuant to Elections Code 10225, which is the 88th day prior to the
general municipal election.
SECTION 3. The candidate's statement may include the name, age (optional), and occupation
of the candidate and a brief description of no more than 200 words describing the candidate's education
and qualifications, expressed by the candidate himself or herself.
SECTION 4. The statement shall not include parry affiliation of the candidate, nor
membership or activity in partisan political organizations.
SECTION 5. The candidate shall not be required to pay for the cost of printing the candidate's
statement in English.
SECTION 6. The candidate shall be required to pay for the cost of printing the candidate's
statement into any foreign language, as specified pursuant to State and /or Federal law, and shall pay for
this in advance at the time of the filing of nomination papers.
SECTION 7. The City Clerk shall provide each candidate a copy of this Resolution at the time
nomination petitions are issued.
SECTION 8. This Resolution shall apply at the general municipal election to be held within
the City of Rohnert Park on Tuesday, November 2, 2010.
DULY AND REGULARLY ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Rohnert Park this
22nd day of June, 2010.
