A RESOULTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROHNERT PARK
Commending
TED GIESIGE, PUBLIC SAFETY COMMANDER
ON THE OCCASION OF HIS RETIREMENT
WHEREAS, Ted Giesige has retired after 27 years of outstanding, dedicated service to Public
Safety and the citizens of Rohnert Park; and
WHEREAS, the City Council and staff are appreciative of the dependable and highly professional
work performed by Ted and wish to note his reputation as a dedicated employee who was know for leading
the Department in a fair, compassionate, and humanistic style; and
WHEREAS, with devotion to our Public Safety Department, Ted began his career as a Community
Service Officer, attended the Police Academy, graduating with highest academic honors and highest
proficiency in fire arms, was awarded a position as Police Reserve Officer, and was promoted to Public
Safety Officer; and
WHEREAS, during his career as a Public Safety Officer, Ted obtained the ranks of Inspector,
Sergeant, Lieutenant, and Commander within the Police Division, and he obtained the ranks of Engineer,
Captain, and Battalion Chief within the Fire Division; and
WHEREAS, while assigned to the Police Division, Ted was a Field Training Officer, Detective,
Shift Supervisor, Training Manager, Watch Commander, Team Leader of the Critical Incident Response
Team, Lead Hostage Negotiator, and Peer Support Counselor; and
WHEREAS, while assigned to the Fire Division, Ted was the Lieutenant in charge of the Division,
developed the City's Disaster Preparedness Program, assisted in the development of the City's Fire
Assessment Tax, led a committee that resulted in a redesign and restructure of the Department's popular
Youth and Family Services Program, and he was instrumental in starting the Department's Chaplaincy
Program; and
WHEREAS, Ted graduated from Santa Rosa Junior College with honors, obtaining an Associate of
Art Degree and an Associate of Science Degree in Administrative of Justice; and obtained his Bachelor of
Arts Degree with honors from the University of San Francisco in the field of Public Administration — Law
Enforcement Leadership.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be suitably prepared and
presented to Public Safety Commander Ted Giesige as evidence of the appreciation, esteem, respect and
affection in which he is held.
