2008/07/08 City Council Resolution 2008-100RESOLUTION NO. 2008 -100 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROHNERT PARK Honoring and Thanking Robert E. Kofoid ON,THE OCCASION OF HIS RETIREMENT FOR 29 YEARS OF DEDICATED SERVICE IN THE CITY'S DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS WHEREAS, Robert E. Kofoid began his extensive career with the City of Rohnert Park on September 11, 1978 as a Maintenance Worker I through the CETA federal government program. He spent the first 5 years of his employment serving in the Parks Division until 1994. At this point he was afforded the opportunity to fulfill "every young boy's dream" by serving as a firefighter for the next 15 years... even though the trucks were white not red as he had hoped; WHEREAS, Rob became a well- rounded employee during his tenure while rotating through the various divisions in Public Works. The majority of his years of service were spent serving in the Streets Division; WHEREAS, In addition to performing the typical tasks relegated to the Streets Division crew along with the more specific responsibilities associated with street markings and traffic sign installations in accordance with the voluminous CalTrans Traffic Manual, Rob harbors fond memories of fishing fallen baby quail and ducks out of storm drains; hefting sandbag after endless sandbag to combat the rising winter flood waters of the late 90's; and participating in the construction of the former Crusher's Stadium; WHEREAS, be it known that Rob was known around the department as "Radical Rob ", a nickname which was birthed from his rather independent and rebellious nature coupled with his "Chicago" attitude. Rob enters into his retirement fondly referred to as the last of the "old timers" and will be remembered by many for the unique flavor that his character has added to the department over the years; and NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the members of the City Council of the City of Rohnert Park extend their gratitude to Robert E. Kofoid for his exceptional and dedicated service to the City and wish him continued success in his future endeavors. DULYAND REGULARLY ADOPTED this 8th day of July, 2008.
