A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROHNERT PARK
Commending
DANIEL R. MURRAY, PUBLIC SAFETY LIEUTENANT
On the Occasion of his Retirement
Wbereag, Daniel R. Murray has retired after 26 years of outstanding, dedicated service to Public Safety and
the citizens of Rohnert Park; and
30bereas, the City Council and staff are appreciative of the dependable and highly professional work
performed by Dan and wish to note his reputation as a dedicated employee; and
39hereao, with devotion to our Public Safety Department, Dan began his career as a Reserve Officer; he was
thereafter promoted to Public Safety Officer, Sergeant, and Lieutenant; he also held the ranks of Firefighter,
Driver /Operator Engineer, Fire Captain, and Battalion Chief, and
39berea %, during his distinguished Public Safety career, Dan served in many facets including Patrol Officer,
Detective, Identification. Technician, Fire Cause and origin Investigator, Field Training Officer, Team Leader of
the Critical Incident Response Team, Team Leader of the Major Accident Investigation Team, Department
Training Manager, Member of the Sonoma County Fire Investigators' Task Force, Employee Involved Critical
Incident Team Leader, Administrative Sergeant, Patrol Supervisor, and Detective Sergeant; and
Wbereas, as a Public Safety Lieutenant, Dan managed the Public Safety Budget, the Investigations Bureaus,
the City's Animal Shelter, and many grants, as well as numerous Police and Fire Operational Projects; and
39bereao, Dan obtained his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Criminal Justice Administration from Sonoma State
University, a Master of Science Degree in Organizational Development from the University of San Francisco,
certificates from the Robert Presley Institute, Supervisory Leadership Institute, the Executive Development
Program, and Certification as a Fire Officer from the State Fire Marshal's Office, as well as his Management
Certificate from the Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training; and
Wbereag, Dan's teaching credential enabled him to provide valuable instruction to the Department in courses
to include Active Shooter, Simunitions, and Fire Ground Operations; he authored the Active Shooter Protocol;
he implemented the Department's Fire Engineer Certification and Class B Drivers' Licensing Programs; he
developed and wrote the Department's Jail Policy; implemented an Asset Forfeiture Policy, and developed and
implemented a Municipal Code for massage parlor licensing; and
Wbereao, Dan donated his time to the Law Enforcement Special Olympics Torch Run, raising money for the
noble cause of the Special Olympics Foundation, and he received numerous accolades throughout his career
from the Department and community for his unwavering sense of duty and professionalism.
