A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROHNERT PARK
AUTHORIZING AMENDMENT NUMBER ONE TO THE MEMORANDUM OF
AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF ROHNERT PARK AND THE ROHNERT
PARK PUBLIC SAFETY OFFICERS' ASSOCIATION
WHEREAS, on February 12, 2008, the City of Rohnert Park ( "City ") entered into that
certain Memorandum of Agreement with the Rohnert Park Public Safety Officers' Association
( "RPPSOA "), effective December 1, 2007 through June 30, 2009 ( "MOA ");
WHEREAS, during the months of August and September 2008, members of RPPSOA,
together with City staff, created a new PSO Captain position for the purposes of providing
(1) additional oversight of the fire engine company, (2) increased safety of crew members, and
(3) assistance to the Fire Supervisor;
WHEREAS, to maintain equity of pay among similar assignments, it was agreed that
employees who are qualified and regularly assigned and engage in the performance of duties of
PSO Captain will receive an additional three percent of base salary per month;
WHEREAS, the proposed changes have been discussed with RPPSOA as required by
state law and such changes have been approved; and
WHEREAS, City and RPPSOA desire to enter into the Amendment Number One to the
MOA in the form attached hereto and incorporated herein as Exhibit A.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Rohnert Park City Council that
Amendment Number One to the MOA is approved.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Manager is authorized to execute
Amendment Number One upon adoption of this Resolution.
DULY AND REGULARLY ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Rohnert
Park this 25th day of November, 2008.

Amendment Number One to Memorandum of Agreement
between the City of Rohnert Park and
the Rohnert Park Public Safety Officers' Association
THIS AMENDMENT NUMBER ONE to the Memorandum of Agreement dated February 12,
2008 between the City of Rohnert Park ( "City ") and the Rohnert Park Public Safety Officers'
Association ( "RPPSOA ") ( "Amendment ") is entered into this day of 2008, by
and between City and RPPSOA.
RECITALS
WHEREAS, on February 12, 2008,.the City entered into that certain Memorandum of
Agreement with RPPSOA, effective December 1, 2007 through June 30, 2009 ( "MOA ");
WHEREAS, during the months of August and September 2008, members of RPPSOA, together
with City staff, created a new PSO Captain position for the purposes of providing (1) additional
oversight of the fire engine company, (2) increased safety of crew members, and (3) assistance to
the Fire Supervisor;
WHEREAS, to maintain equity of pay among similar assignments, it was agreed that employees
who are qualified and regularly assigned and engage in the performance of duties of PSO Captain

WHEREAS, City and RPPSOA now desire to enter into this Amendment to the MOA.
AGREEMENT
NOW, THEREFORE, IN CONSIDERATION OF THE FAITHFUL PERFORMANCE OF THE
TERMS SET FORTH HEREIN, THE PARTIES HEREBY AMEND THE MOA AS
FOLLOWS:
1. Section 9.35 — PSO Captain Pay. Section 9.35 is hereby added to the MOA to read
as follows:
9.35 PSO Captain Pay
Employees who are qualified and assigned as PSO Captain and who are regularly
assigned and employed in the performance of duties of PSO Captain in the Fire Services Division
of the Department of Public Safety shall receive an additional three percent (3 %) of base salary
per month pay (in additional to Engineer pay).
(a) Each PSO Captain must re- certify every two (2) years. Any employee not
passing the entire re- certification process will lose the PSO Captain Pay increment until such
time as he /she is re- certified.
(b) The PSO Captain position is a non- supervisory position. If funding becomes
available, and upon agreement by City and RPPSOA, the PSO Captain position may be
considered for an additional one percent (1 %) to make it equivalent with the Fire Captain Pay
percentage as outlined in Section 9.4 below.
2. MOA in Effect. Except as provided for in this Amendment, the MOA remains in full force
and effect.
