A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROHNERT PARK
APPROVING A REORGANIZATION TO ALLOCATE CITY ENGINEER POSITION
AND ELIMINATE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT MANAGER POSITION
WHEREAS, staff has identified a current need for the key organizational function and
specific technical expertise embodied in the role of a licensed professional City Engineer; and
WHEREAS, staff has analyzed current staffing needs, options and costs and
recommends the allocation of one new position of City Engineer; and further recommends
obtaining the salary savings needed to fund the newly - allocated City Engineer position by the
elimination of one existing position of Economic Development Manager, and
WHEREAS, staff analysis indicates that the elimination of the position of Economic
Development Manager would result in the layoff of an incumbent management employee; and
staff further recommends that in the case of layoff of managerial employees, the City Manager
be empowered to negotiate and offer an individual separation and severance agreement for such
employee in exchange for additional consideration provided by the employee and City;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Rohnert
Park approves allocation of one new position of City Engineer at the salary range of 98M
($9,007 to $10,948 per month), and approves the elimination of one existing position of
Economic Development Manager.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Manager is authorized to take all actions
necessary to implement the changes outlined in this Resolution, including the negotiation of
individual separation and severance agreements for laid -off management employees.
