with the city and school officials present the apparent
problem in-providing school facilities or financing to keep
up with the rapid growth that the area is experiencing.
The differences in the problems between the Cotati School
.District and the Petaluma High School District were explain&
Most of the officials participated in a rather lengthy dis-
cussion that was held concerning how best to handle the
situation. Some criticism was offered for calling this
meeting and not allowing the School District-Coordinating
Committee to work with the developers and propose a solu-
tion to the problem. During the course of the discussion,
Councilman Smith submitted a proposed resolution which he
suggested that the School District consider for adoption
and which would request a restriction on development.
The discussion also touched on the need to have the State
Legislature take proper action to correct the poor situation
that school district financing is in. 'Pending bills before
the legislature were discussed.
Comments were received from Mr. Harold Heers, Mr. Art
Condiotti, Mr. Jimmie Rogers representing developers who
indicated that they intended to meet with the School District
City Corrdinating Committee and hcpefully present a solu-
tion to the schools problem.
The Councils were requested by School Board members to
support changes in Sacramento in the method of funding
education.
After a wide range of topics were discussed in connection
with schools situation, those officials present agreed that
the matter should be left in the hands of the School Dis-
trict-City Coordinating Committee until it reports back with
a recommendation to the individual bodies.
