The Council of the City of Rohnert Park
met this date in adjourned regular session
commencing at 7:30 p.m. in the City Offices,
6750 Commerce Boulevard, Rohnert Park,
with Mayor Roberts presiding.
Roll Call Present: (5) Councilmen Beary, Flores,
Hopkins, Smith, and Roberts
Others Present:
Planning Commissioners: (5) Cincera,
Grenache, Mullins, Cronin, and Goff
Staff: City Manager Callinan, Acting
Planning Director Cordill
Press Correspondents: Lane Wallace,
The Clarion; Miss Donna Karasek,
Press Democrat; Tom Decker, KSRO.
The meeting was held for the purpose of
having a joint work session between the
Council and the Planning Commission.
General discussions were held concerning
approaches that the city should take in
handling signs and various appeals from
Planning Commission action. The need for
revamping the existing sign regulations
was also discussed. The closing in of
garages was discussed and it was generally
agreed that the City should take a hard
stand on not permitting any more closing in
of garages, especially in new areas such
as Holiday Park. Staff was requested to
follow up along this line and to be guided
in their actions by the expressions from
the Commission and Counni I .
Discussion was held concerning how the City
can make the new development pay its own
way, i.e. for the new facilities that will
be required as a result of the development.
Discussion was held concerning the City's
per acre assessment, financing bridges,
community development and the problems
created by same.
