ROHNERT PARK CITY COUNCIL MINUTES
March 12, 1974
The Council of the City of Rohnert Park met
this.date in adjourned regular session com-
mencing a-'#-- 8:00 p.m. in the City Offices,
6750 Commerce Boulevard, Rohnert Park, with
'Mayor Flores presiding.
,.Mayor Flores called the meeting of the adjourne
regular session to order at approximately
8:00 p.m.
Present: (4) Councilmen Beary, Hopkins
Smith, and Flores
Absent: (1) Councilman Roberts
Others Present: City Manager Callinan,
Department Heads, the press
and guests
Flag Ceremony and Members of Girl Scout Troop 152 conducted a
Pledge of Allegiance flag ceremony and led the pledge of allegiance.
Girls participating were Sheila Towns, Ann
Panttaja, Janet Rasmussen, Nancy Allen, and
Debbie Turner.
Resolution No. 74-31 A RESOLUTION DECLARING RESULT OF GENERAL
MUNICIPAL ELECTION HELD IN THE CITY OF
ROHNERT PARK ON MARCH 5, 1974
City Manager Callinan reviewed the resolution.
Upon motion of Councilman Smith, seconded by
Councilman Beary, and unanimously approved,
the reading of Resolution No. 74-31 was
waived and said resolution was adopted.
Oath of Office
Deputy City Clerk Logue administered the
Oath of Office to Councilmen-elect David Eck
and Armando Flores.
Adjournment to
Mayor Flores adjourned the meeting at approxi-
Executive Session
mately 8:07 p.m. to an executive session to
select the Mayor and Vice-Mayor for the
coming year.
Reconvene
Mayor Flores reconvened the meeting at approxi-
mately 8:25-D.m.
Introductions
Mayor Flores introduced Mr. Willis Brock and
Mrs. Laikie Sani, candidates in the Council
election, and former mayors Jack Buchanan,
Jimmie Rogers, and Pete Callinan.

Election of Mayor
Mayor Flores advised that Councilman Smith
Pro - Tempore
had been selected by the City Council to
serve as Mayor Pro- Tempore (Vice Mayor)
and cast a unanimous ballot.
Election of Mayor
Mayor Flores advised that Councilman Beary
had been selected by the City,Council to serve
as Mayor and cast a unanimous ballot.
Mayor Flores made a brief speech and thanked
the other Councilmen and city staff for their
assistance during his year as Mayor.
Incoming Mayor Beary assumed the chairing of t7
meeting: On behalf of the city, he presented
outgoing Mayor Flores with a silver tray in
appreciation of his service as Mayor.
Mayor Beary made a brief speech during which
he outlined some of his goals for the coming
year, such as an expanded transportation =
system, new major recreational facility, de-
welopment of plans for a new library, and
increased employment in the city. He pledged
his efforts toward achieving these goals.
Miss Rohnert Park
Councilman Flores introduced Stephanie Bodie,
Miss Rohnert`Park, who was present.
Councilman Eck made a brief speech and expressE
thanks for the eight years of service of
former Councilman Roberts, and complimented
him and,the other candidates for conducting
a campaign that was a credit to the community.
Adjournment.
There being no further business the meeting
was adjourned at approximately 8:35 to coffee
