1972/04/18 City Council MinutesROHNERT PARK CITY COUNCIL MINUTES April 18, 1972 The Council of the City of Rohnert Park met this date in adjourned regular session commencing at approximately 8 :15 p.m. in the City Offices, 435 Southwest Boulevard, Rohnert Park, with Mayor Hopkins presiding. Call to Order Mayor Hopkins called the meeting of the adjourned regular session to order at approximately 8 :15 p.m. and led the pledge of allegiance. Roll Call Present: (5) Councilmen Buchanan:, Flores, Roberts, Smith and Mayor Hopkins Absent: (0) None Others Present: City Manager Callinan, Department Heads, the press and guests Resolution No. 72 =59 A RESOLUTION DECLARING RESULT OF GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION HELD IN THE CITY OF ROHNERT PARK ON APRIL 11, 1972 City Manager Callinan summarized the resolution. Upon motion of Councilman Roberts, seconded by Councilman Buchanan and unanimously approved, the rading of Resolution No. 72 -59 was waived and said resolution was adopted. Resolution No. 72 -60 A RESOLUTION CANVASSING RETURNS AND DECLARING RESULT OF THE SPECIAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION HELD APRIL 11, 1972 City Manager Callinan summarized the resolution. Upon motion of Councilman Smith, seconded by Councilman Roberts and unanimously approved, the reading of Resolution No. 72 -60 was waived and said resolution was adopted. Oath of Office The Oath of Office was administered to Councilmen -elect Lou Beary, VErnon Smith and Warren Hopkins by Deputy City Clerk Harris. Election of Mayor Upon motion of Councilman Roberts, seconded by Councilman Pro - Tempore Beary and unanimously approved, Councilman Armando F. Flores was elected Mayor Pro - Tempore (Vice Mayor) Election Of Mayor Upon motion of Councilman Smith, seconded by Councilman Flores and unanimously approved, Councilman Roberts was elected Mayor. Incoming Mayor Roberts assumed the chairing of the meeting from outgoing Mayor Hopkins, and made a brief acceptance speech, and on behalf of the city, presented outgoing Mayor Hopkins with a plaque in appreciation of his service as Mayor. Councilman Hopkins made a brief speech and thanked the other Councilmen and his wife for their assistance during Page -2= April 18, 1972 his year as Mayor. Councilmen Beary and Smith, made some comments concerning their election and goals as Councilmen. -kesolution�No. 72 -61 RESOLUTION OF TESTIMONY TO JACK D. BUCHANAN Mayor Roberts read the resolution. Upon motion of Councilman Hopkins, seconded by Councilman Smith and unanimously approved, Resolution No. 72 -61 was adopted.
