The Council of the City,of.Rohnert Park met this date in
adjourned regular session commencing at 7:05 p.m. in the
City Offices, 435 Southwest Boulevard, Rohnert Park, with
,Mayor Hopkins presiding.
Call to Order Mayor Hopkins called the meeting of the adjourned regular
session to order at approximately 7:05 p.m.
Roll Call Present: (4) .Councilm en Buchanan, Roberts, Rogers, and
Hopkins
Absent: (1) Councilman Smith
Staff Present for all or part of the meeting:.
City Manager Callinan, Deputy City Attorney Mawson, Supt.
of Public Works Wiggins, Director of Public Safety Dennett,
and Director of Parks and Recreation Pekkain.
Others Present: Architect Lawrence L. Simons and Bob
Goetzinger of the Argus Courier
City Office Building City Manager Callinan reviewed his memo to the Council
dated October 21, concerning the proposed new city office
building.
Mayor Hopkins initiated a discussion regarding interest
costs and payment schedules.
Recess Mayor Hopkins declared a recess at this point in the meeting
to allow Councilman Rogers to obtain amortization tables
from his office, the time being approximately 7:15 p.m.
Reconvene Mayor Hopkins reconvened the meeting at approximately
7:25 p.m.
After checking the amortization tables provided by Council-
man Rogers it was estimated. that the debt service on
$200,000 for 15 years at 6% would be approximately
$20,000 per year.
Discussion followed on the pros and cons of the new office
building project.
Upon motion by Councilman Buchanan, seconded by Councilman
Rogers, and approved by the following roll call vote,
staff and Architect Simons were authorized to proceed with
the new office building project as outlined in City Manager
Callinan`s memo, bearing in n.i.nd that the project bond
issue is not to exceed. $200,000 and to try and negotiate
for the Rosenberg site rather than the Spivock site:

Mayor'Hopkins stated for the record that he believed this
matter was one that the voting people should decide upon; ;
that $10,000 was budgeted and now that figure has been
doubled; and it is a shame that we have so little 'confidence
in the people of Rohnert Park; that we are already operating
at a deficit and this will make the deficit even larger.and
that'it seems a very poor way to run a business.
Councilman Roberts responded that he did not agree.
Adjournment—: There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned
at:7 :50 p.m.
