November 23, 1971
The Council of the City of Rohnert Park met this date in
special session commencing at 7 :35 p.m. in the City Offices,
435 Southwest Boulevard, Rohnert Park, with Mayor Hopkins
presiding.
Call to Order Mayor Hopkins called the meeting to order at 7 :35 p.m. and
led the pledge of allegiance.
Present: (5) Councilmen BUchanan, Roberts, Rogers, Smith,
and Mayor Hopkins_
Absent: (0) None
Staff Present: City Manager Callinan
Press Present: Mr. Clint Mosher of The Clarion
EDA Grant City Manager Callinan reviewed the Offer..of Grant received
from the U.S. Department of Commerce Economic Development
Administration for the freeway interchange overpass. He re-
viewed the special conditions, especially those relative to
obtaining appraisals on certain properties and covenants
that would be required. He indicated that he would be sub -
mitting names of appraisers to the Economic Development Ad-
ministration for its approval prior to having the necessary
appraisals done. He indicated that he had been in contact
with the State Division of Highways relative to the grant
offer. Discussion followed.
Resolution No. 71 -149 RESOLUTION ACCEPTING GRANT OFFER FOR FREEWAY INTERCHANGE
OVERPASS
City Manager Callinan explai ned the resolution.
Upon motion of Councilman Rogers, seconded by Councilman
Roberts, and unanimously approved, Resolution No. 71 -149
was adopted.
Officer Lewis City Manager Callinan reported to the Council the recent
Accident auto accident in which Public Safety Officer Larry Lewis
was involved on Snyder Lane with a police vehicle while on
duty.
Officer Jack City Manager Callinan reported to the Council that Public
Shields Safety Officer Jack Shields was injured by a car as he
crossed Southwest Boulevard at the end of the fire drill
on Monday, November 22nd.
Hinebaugh Creek City Manager Callinan provided each member of the Council
with a copy of the November 11, 1971 letter he received from
Gordon Miller, Chief Engineer for the Sonoma County Water
Agency relative to a commitment desired by that entity
from the city or the property owners to the effect that the

County Taster Agency can advertise fur bids of the railroad
trestle, Mr. Callinan indicated t'hat he inton ed to senrl

to try and solicit the commitment as soon as possible so that
the trestle can be put out to bid.
Plannin'Z' g CommisSion A discussion was held concerning when to hold the interviews
of the: applicants for the Planning Commission. It was de-
cided that the interviews would be rescheduled from November
29 to Tuesday, December 7, with an executive session being
held to interview the Candidates, a public session being held
to interview the candidates, then an executive session for
the Council to deliberate, and then a public session for the
Council to make its appointments. City Manager,Callinan
solicited Mayor Hopkins assistance in compiling the inter-
view list.
National League of The National League of Cities Congress in Hawaii from Novem-

Councilman Buchanan, seconded by Councilman Rogers, and
unanimously approved, the Council authorized those Councilmen
desiring to attend and the City Manager to attend the Nation-
al League of Cities
Congress in Hawaii.
W,a t e r Supply A discussion wa s initiated by Councilman Smith relative
to the city9s water supply from the Petaluma aqueduct of the
Sonoma County Water Agency. Discussion was held concerning
the possible discontinuance of the water service to the city
bN7 the water agency and the alternatives available to the
city. The discussion was general in nature.
