The Council of the City of Rohnert Park met this
date in adjourned regular session at 7*00 p.m• in
the City Offices, 435 Southwest Blvd., Rohnert Park
with Mayor Roberts presiding.
Call to Order Mayor Roberts called the meeting to order at approxi-
mately 7*10 p.m.

Work- -Study City Manager Callinan explained the College Work -
Program Study Program being conducted by the Sonoma State
College under a Federal program. He reviewed the
application that the City had submitted for parti-
cipation in the program.
Upon motion by Councilman Hopkins, seconded by
Councilman Smith, and unanimously approved, the
Council supported and endorsed City participation
in the College Work -Study Program
Councilman Rogers Councilman Rogers arrived at this point in the
Arrives meeting, the time being approximately 7*20 p.m.
Golf Course Water City Manager Callinan and Superintendent of Public
Works Wiggins explained to the Council the need for
purchase of.Coyote Water for use on the golf course.
An agreement providing for the purchase of this
water was presented and reviewed.

Upon motion by Councilman Smith, seconded by
Councilman Hopkins, and unanimously approvedq

Meeting with After a brief discussion it was decided to schedule

concerning sewage treatment and disposal on July
29th rather than on July 22nd as previously scheduled

appointed chairman of a committee to make some
suggestions for property tax relief for additions to
residences. Councilman Smith gave a brief report
on the purposes of the Committee and advised that he
would report to the Division at its July meeting.
Community & Mr. Lawrence Simons, architect for the Community &
Recreation Recreation Center, was present and reviewed the
Building working drawings that he had prepared to date for
the project. During the course of the review the
City Council suggested possible changes in certain
parts of the building, particularly access to and
from the stage and also provisions for dr- �ssing rooms.
1968 -69 Budget A worksession on the 1968 --69 budget was then held.
Worksession
City Manager Callinan reviewed the overall budget
and commented on the general information contained
therein.
The Police Protection Budget was reviewed in detail.
A lengthy discussion was held concerning salaries of
employees, and police officers in particular, and
means of implementing an effective salary and fringe
benefit program to encourage maximum performance by
employees.
The Fire Protection, Ambulance Services, Animal
Control, Civil Defense budgets were reviewed in
detail with the Council.
Upon motion duly made, seconded,and unanimously
approved, the Police Protection, Fire Protection,
Ambulance Service, Animal Control and Civil Defense
budgets were given tentative approval.
Building The proposed Building Inspection budget was re-

upon motion by Councilman Rogers, seconded by
Councilman Hopkins, and unanimously approved the

Public Works The proposed Public Works budgets were reviewed in
detail.
Upon conclusion of the reviews and upon motions duly
made, seconded, and unanimously approved, the Council
gave tentative approval to the Public Works budgets.
Rats A brief discussion was initiated by Councilman Rogers
concerning the sighting of some rats in the Laguna de
Santa Rosa on the west side of the Mitchell Realty

building. Staff was requested to follow —up and
institute a rat control program.
Adjournment There being no further business the meeting was
adjourned at approximately 10,.00 p.m. to Monday,
July 15, 1968 at 6 ,.30 p.m. in the City Offices.
