ROHNERT PARK CITY COUNCIL
27 July 1964
The Council of the City of Rohnert Park met this date in adjourned
session at $:00 p.m. at the City Offices, 435 Southwest Blvd.,
Rohnert Park with Mayor Buchanan presiding.
Present: (5) Mayor Buchanan, Councilmen Pezonella, Rogers,
C. Smith, V. Smith.
Absent: (0)
Staff Present: City Manager Callinan, Director of Public Safety
Spinelli.
Councilman Rogers moved that City Manager Callinan be appointed
temporary secretary to take the minutes of this meeting. The
motion was seconded by Councilman C. Smith and approved by the
following roll call vote: AYES: (4) Councilmen Rogers, C. Smith,
V. Smith, Mayor Buchanan. NOES: (1) Councilman Pezonella.
P.G. &E. Tour Upon motion by Councilman V. Smith, seconded by Councilman Rogers,
and unanimously approved, City Manager Callinan was authorized to
accept an invitation he received from P.G.&E. to join the tour of
,_P.G. &E.'s.King River facilities on August 12 through 14th.
Proclamation Upon motion by Councilman Rogers, seconded by Councilman Pezonella
and unanimously approved, Mayor Buchanan was authorized to sign a
proclamation for " Rohnert Park Service Club Week."
Thiesfeld Upon motion by Councilman C. Smith, seconded by Councilman V. Smith
and unanimously approved, payment to Nore Thiesfeld, Planning Con-
sultant, in the amount of $7.50 was authorized to cover services
from January 11 1964 through June 30, 1964.
Founders Day A letter from Art Roberts advising of a meeting to be held on
Meeting July 29th concerning Founders Days was brought to the Council's
attention. After a Brief discussion, Councilman V. Smith indicat-
ed that he would attend the meeting to represent the City.
Group Insurance At this point the meeting was turned into a work session for the
for City Employees purpose of the Council hearing presentations from the persons
listed below concerning group insurance, especially hospital,
surgical and medical, for the City's employees.
1. Mr. Thomas Feeney made a presentation of a proposal from the
Crown Life Insurance Company. Mr. Glenn Smith, representative of
Crown Life was also present and answered several questions from
the Council concerning the proposal.
2. Mr.. Sam Bellheumer introduced Mr. Walt Smith who made a pre-
sentation of the proposal from Intercoast Life Insurance Company.
3. Mr. Harry Duncan made a presentation of the proposal from
Bankers Life Company and also presented several sheets of informa-
tion to the Council concerning group insurance; a comparison be-
tween several of the proposals; and how other political sub- -divi-
sions allocate costs for group insurance.

After all their questions were answered, the Council decided to
table this matter until the next regular Council meeting. City
Manager Callinan requested the Council to give some consideration
to the question of how much of the premium the City would pay and
how much the employees would be required to pay.
(Copies of the insurance proposals presented and data related to
same are on file in the City,Kanageris office.)
The Council requested the City Manager to get the feelings of the
employees concerning the life insurance contained in the proposals
presented.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at
9:40 p.m.
