1965/06/18 City Council Minutes18 dune 1965 Upon motion by Councilman V. Smith, seconded by Councilman C. Smith and unanimously carried, City Manager Callinan was authorized to inform the firm of Wilson, Jones, Morton & Lynch of the Council's approval to include the above listed items in the refinancing program for the Safety Building, 1965 -66 Budget City Manager Callinan read the introduction to the preliminary budget. -- - - Councilman Buchanan arrived at this point in the meeting, 8:IOpm. i A work session was held on the Police Department and Public Works Department sections of the preliminary budget. Chief Koch and Superintendent of Public Works, Wiggins were present and partici- pated in the discussion on the proposed budget. City Manager Callinan was requested to pursue combining,the positions of Building Inspec or and City Engineer. Upon motion by Councilman V. Smith, seconded by Councilman C. Smith and unanimously carried the Council gave temporary approval to the Public Works budget and the Police Department budget, especially the Police vehicle. Cali. to Order Mayor Rogers called the meeting to order. Roll Call Present: (4) Mayor Rogers, Councilmen Pezonella, C. Smiths V. Smith Absent: (1) Councilman Buchanan. (Arrival time is noted at appropriate place in the minutes.) - Refinance of City Manager Callinan reported to the Council on the status of City Building_ the refinancing of the City Building. Mr`. Callinan reported • -- that -the firm of Wilson, Jones, Morton & Lynch was handling the refinancing program and trying to find a buyer for the bonds. Mr. Callinan requested authorization from the Council to include the building and land, $76,404; Paving, $6,200; Council Chambers, $6,000 for a total land and improvements .cost of $88,604.
