1966/04/19 City Council MinutesROHNERT PARK CITY COUNCIL MINUTES 19 April 1966 The Council of the City of Rohnert Park met this date in an adjourned session at $ :00 p.m.'at the City Offices, 435 South- west Blvd., Rohnert Park, with Mayor Rogers presiding. Call to Order Mayor Rogers called the meeting to order and welcomed all the guests attending the meeting. Roll Call Present: (5) Councilmen Buchanan, Pezonella, C. Smith, V. Smith, Mayor Rogers • Absent: (0) Staff present: City Manager Callinan, City Attorney Maxwell, Mr. Nicholson'from the Sonoma County Planning staff. Planning and Zoning Matters Public Hearing Sonoma Campus Co. Inc., Rezoning Request, Public Hearing, from Sonoma Campus Co. "All to "RM -1500 PD" on property east of Snyder Lane, south of ..Sonoma State..Expressway right -of -way. Mayor Rogers declared the public hearing open on the above rezoning request. City Manager Callinan described the proposed zoning change to the Council. A letter was,read frot.Sonoma State College concerning the proposed zoning change. Mr. Nicholson, Sonoma County Planning staff, recommended approval of the proposed zoning change. Mr. Meyers, Superintendent of Petaluma High School District appeared and stated that the proposed zoning change was satisfactory to the Petaluma 'High School'District. He added that the district was also interested in the surrounding zoning and architectural planning and offerdd any assistance that the school district could provide. Mr. Forsythe and Mr. Lehmann presented the architectural plan concept to the Council. There being no further comments, and no one else desiring to be heard, Mayor Rogers declared the public hearing closed. Ordinance Ordinance No. � - AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ZONING ORDINANCE was 6'% read by City Attorney Maxwell. Page 2 19 April 1966 Upon motion by Councilman C. Smith, seconded by Councilman Buchanan Ordinance No.,66 was introduced by the following vote: AYES: (5) Councilmen Buchanan, Pezonella, C. Smith, V. Smith, Mayor Rogers Upon motion by Councilman Rogers, seconded by Councilman Roberts NOES: (0) ABSENT: (0) Election Canvass City Attorney Maxwell assisted City Clerk Lillian Sani in the canvass of votes. He read the election results to the Council. Resolution #336 Resolution No. 336 - A RESOLUTION RECITING THE FACT OF THE MUNICIPAL ELECTION AND.OTHER MATTERS, was read by City Attorney Maxwell. Upon motion by Councilman V. Smith, seconded.by Councilman Pezonella and unanimously carried, Resolution - No...._336--was adopted. Invocation Mayor Rogers called upon the Reverend Saul to deliver an in- vocation. r Duncil'man ::. Councilman Buchanan appoke about his past six °years -of-- 6snatioh,: Buchanan first to the Community Services District and-then to the City, the cooperation he received from staff and citizens and the pleasure.he had serving as an elected official. He wished the new City Council every success. Oath of Office Mr. Jimmie W. Rogers and Mr. Arthur N. Roberts were given the (lath of•Off-ina by City Clerk Lillian Sani. Resolution #335 .Resolution No. 335 - A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL COMMENDING .RETIRED COUNCILMAN JACK D. BUCHANAN, was read by Councilman V. Smith, Upon motion by Councilman V. Smith, seconded by Councilman Pezonella and unanimously carried, Resolution No. 335 was adopted. Election of Upon motion by Councilman V. Smith, seconded by Councilman Officers C. Smith and unanimously parried, Councilman Pezonella was elected Xice- Mayor.. Mayor Rogers thanked the Council for the privilege of serving as Mayor of Rohnert Park, and thanked City Manager Callinan and staff for their assistance. Upon motion by Councilman Rogers, seconded by Councilman Roberts Page 3 19 April 1966 and unanimously carried, Councilman Clifford Smith was elected Mayor. Mayor Smith thanked the Council for extending him the honor of serving as Mayor of Rohnert Park for the next year. Councilman Roberts thanked the Council and the people of the City of Rohnert Park for the privilege of serving as a Coun- cilman of the City.
