ROHNERT PARK CITY COUNCIL MINUTES
April 8, 1968
The Council of the City of Rohnert Park met this date
in an adjourned regular session commencing at 7:00 p.m.
in the City Offices 435 Southwest Blvd., Rohnert Park
with Mayor Pezonella presiding.
Mayor Pezonella called the meeting to order.
Present: (4) Councilmen Roberts, Rogers, Smith and
Mayor Pezonella
Absent: (1) Councilman Buchanan
Staff Present: City Attorney Maxwell, Sonoma County
Planning Staff Wes Vail. City
Manager Callinan arrived late the
time being specifically noted in the
minutes.
Airport Study Councilmen Roberts and Rogers made a verbal report on
the efforts being made to establish an airport at the
old Navy airfield on the west side of U.S. 101. They
advised that a meeting of city and other interested
officials has been set for April 11. Mr. Tom Gilliand,
Codding Enterprises, was present and discussed the
proposed airport briefly with the Council.
File #0095 Wes Vail, Sonoma County Planning Staff, reviewed the
Fotomat Corp. application of Fotomat Corp. for a use permit for a
film developing merchandising island in the neighbor-
hood shopping center. Mr. George Owens, company rep-
resentative, was present and participated in the dis-
cussion. Planner Vail indicated that he had reserva-
tl_ons concerning the proposed location and would like
to study the matter further. The Council agreed and
suggested that Mr. Owens and Planner Vail get together
and work out a mutually satisfactory location for the
proposed island prior to the Council taking any action
on it.
Municipal Election A brief discussion was held concerning the April Mun-
icipal Election, the propositions on the ballot, and
providing transportation to the polls for those desir-
ing it.
Recess Mayor Pezonella declared a recess at this point in the
meeting, the time being approximately 7:45 p.m.
Reconvene Mayor Pezonella called the meeting back to order at
approximately 7:50 p.m.
CSF Pool Upon motion by Councilman Rogers, seconded by Council-
man Roberts and unanimously approved the Council

waived the City's normal pool rental fee for the use
of the pool by the CSF student group from Rancho Cotate
High School on April 19, 1968.
City Manager arrival City Manager Callinan arrived at this point in the
meeting with Bond Counsel Richard Raymond.
Golf Course Bond Counsel Richard Raymond brought the Council up to
date on matters related to the acquisition of the
Rohnert Park— Golf Course. He advised the Council
that he had just come from a meeting of the Board of
Directors of the Rohnert Park Golf Course Corporation.
Upon motion by Councilman Smith, seconded by Council-
man Roberts and unanimously approved the Council
authorized the Mayor to execute the notice of assign-
ment of rents from Crocker-Citizens National Bank.
Undergrounding Utilities A discussion was held concerning a letter dated March
27, 1968 from Neal Smith, County Administrator, con-
cerning a requel---t for advice as to what utility
undergrounding projects the County might cooperate in
with the City.
Upon motion by Councilman V. Smith seconded by Council-.
man Rogers and unanimously approved, the council dir-
ected that the County be advised of possible under-
grounding projects on East Cotati Avenue, Snyder Lane,
the west side of U.S. 101 and the Rohnert Park Fxpress-
way.
City Treasurer's Salary A brief discussion was held concerning whether or not
to discuss a possible change in the City Treasurer's
Salary. The Council deferred the matter until after
the election.
George Klineman The Council commended "The World" reporter George
Klineman, who was present, for the support that he
expressed in his newspaper column for the proposed
Community and Recreation Building.
Adjournment There being no further business the meeting was ad-
journed at approximately 8:15 P-m-
