The regular meeting was pre- ceded by an executive session which commenced at 7:30 P.M. but at which no formal action was taken. Call to Order'.;' Mayor C. Smith called the meeting to order. Roll Call Present: (5) Councilmen Pezonella, Roberts, Rogers, V. Smith and Mayor C! Smith. Superior Roofing- A digcussion was held re.gardim the sign section Application-for °' of the zoning ordinance. Sign. ,Variance.,,;._ Mr. Hayden Ponder of Superior Roofing, the appli- cant, Vas present and,expressed to the Council his need for the sign. City Manager Callinan displayed a sketch of the propose,d.sign and read they ;,:planning staff report. Mr. Cali3nan stated that he had discussed the request with both Mr.,Ponder and Mr. Groom and A general discussion was held regarding the place- ment �o�f-` the wat; r, lines, water meter, and fire hydrant. RevocationCof: City Manager Callinan advised the Council that Certain Use several operations in the industrial area which Permits had been granted use permits were no longer in business and suggested that their use permits be revoked to enable the City to maintain planning and zoning control -over tie defunct businesses. Upon motion by Councilman Rogers, seconded by Councilman, V =Smith and unanimously approved, the City Attorney `was requested to prepare the necessary documents and start the proceedings to revoke the use permits of A -A Concrete Blocks and Mission Aggrega;te$'4: . Sewer and Water City Manager Callinan.,Ef1plained the proposed ex- Improvements J Ctension of the sewer di:d:;'water lines to serve Westerly Side--d. j -the Acoustinet, Tne.., budding on the westerly of U.S.101 frontage road. H `advised that the placement of the fire hydrant had been discussed. with Pacific Fire Rating' Bureau and Mr. Groom,'the :- property owner re%questing' the service. Mr. Callinan explained to the Council the various alternatives of installing the improvements.. Mr. Groom commented %on the placement of the hydrant. Appointments. to Councilman Rogers stated that the Council had, Recreation_ discussed pons ble appointments to the Recrea- Commission Lion Commission during'tho- blecutive session that preceded' the regulari meeting and had decided to defer making any appointments until the Council had an,opportuni.ty to meet with the Recreation CommzssYO; ,-Upon motion by' Gouricilman Rogers, seconded by Councilman V. Smith and unanimously approved, .additional appointments to the Recreation C-trmmi'ssion were deferred until after August 8, 1966`when the Coun'c.il will meet with the Recrea- `tiori Commission. Community Attitude Councilman P616ndlla "introduced Jerry Moore, a Survey resident, who commented -on the contents of a possible community attitude survey and the manner in which one had''been conducted in Novato. Mr. Moore introduced -Mr. Jim Pelmulder of the Novato Junior, Chain_ bei'Y�'64 Commerce who explained in de- tail how t e'survey had been taken, and the information obtained compiled into summary form. Page -5- July 18, 1966 The City Manager was requested to contact the Novato City Administrator and request additional information on their survey results. Founder's Day Councilman Roberts reported to the Council on the plans for Founder's Day activities. Personal Appearances Mr. Regusci . ,Mt.:Regusci, 7454 ­Burton Avenue, was present and advised the Council that nothing had been done on the drainage problem at his residence. Mayor C. Smith asked the City Manager to follow up on this matter. Adjournment There being no further business the meeting was adjourned at approximately 9 :50 P.M. to Wednes- day July 20, 1966 at 7:30 P.M.
