July 20, 1966.
The Council of the City of Rohnert Park met this date
in an adjourned session at 7:30 P.M. in the City Offices,
435 Southwest Boulevard, Rohnert Park, with Mayor C. Smith
presiding.
Call to Order Mayor C., Smith called the meeting to order.
Roll Call Present (4) Councilman Pezonella, Rogers, V. Smith
and Mayor C. Smith
Absent: (1) Councilman Roberts
Staff present: City Manager Callinani Attorney Richard
Raymond of the firm of Wilson Jones, Morton and Lynch:
P- laming City Manager Callinan distributed copies and read the report
submitted to the Board of Supervisors by County Planning
Director Prather concerning the alternate courses that could
be taken to prepare a general plan for the Rohnert Park,
Cotati, Sonoma State College area. A discussion was held
concerning Mr. Prather's report. Participating in the
discussion in addition to members of the Council and the City
Manager were Mr. F.Ga Lehmann, General Planning Corporation
and Norman Spivock.
Councilman V. Smith moved and Councilman Rogers seconded a
motion that the City approve the proposed agrreement with
General Planning Corporation and that they suggest that the
Sonoma County Board of Supervisors apply for a planning grant
under the Federal 701 Program.
After some discussion this motion was wi.th�drawn.
Upon motion by Councilman V. Smith, seconded by Councilman
Rogers and unanimously approved, the agreement prepared by
City Attorney, Maxwell between the City of Rohnert Park and
General Planning Corporation was approved and the Mayor was
authorized to execute said agreement on behalf of the City.
Upon motion by Councilman V. Smith, seconded by Councilman
Rogers and unanimously approved, the Council authorized the
filing of an application for a planning grant for the City of
Rohnert Park under the Federal 701 Funds Grant Program.
Upon motion by Councilman V. Smith, seconded by Councilman
Rogers and unanimously approved, the Mayor was authorized to
write a letter to the Sonoma County Board of Supervisors
advising that the City Council felt that the County should
use the Federal 701 Planning Grant procedure for the
preparation of the general plan for the Rohnert Park, Cotati,
Sonoma State College atea,
JLeague of Calif. City Manger Callinan submitted to each memeber of the Council
a cop. of the agenda for the Redwood Empire Divi5- or, c)T f he
Cities League.of California Cities meeting in Eureka.
Upon motion by Councilman Rogers, seconded by Councilman
Pezonella and unanimously approved, Councilman Vern Smith was
authorized to attend the League of California Cities meeting
in Eureka.
Golf Course Study A work session was held concerning the investigation into the
feasibility of the City submitting an offer of purchase for
the Rohnert Park Golf Course. Participating in the discussion
- addition.to the City Council and City Manager were Attorney
Richard Raymond, golf study committee member Ray Stevenson,
and resident Dale Foust.
After hearing the staff reports and discussing the i.1
advisability _of::submitting an offer for the golf course at
this:time, the Council took the following action:
1, Requested that several debt retirement schedules be
submitted for their scrutiny which would indicate the
amount of funds that City would have to raise to meet the
debt retirement of the golf course.
2. Requested a schedule of anticipated revenues for the golf
course..
3. Authorized submitting a feeler offer of $200,000.00 to the
trustee.
44 Suggested contacting the County of Sonoma and the City of
Santa Rosa to determine whether or not they would be
interested in participating in the purchase of the
. Rohnert Park Golf Course.
_Adjournment There being no further business the meeting was adjourned at
approximately 9:30 P.M. 1
