1963/08/13 City Council MinutesThe Council of the City of Rohnert Park met this date in
adjourned session at 8000 pomo at the City Office, 6950 Commerce
Blvd., Rohnert Parks with Mayor Smith presiding.
Roll Call Present: (3) Mayor Smiths Councilmen Buchanan and Rogers
Absents (2) Councilman Foust and Bell
Also present: Mr, Callinan, City Manager
Secretary Mayor Smith appointed Mr. Gallinang City Manager, secretary
for this meeting*
Rohnert Park A disuession, was held with Mr. Norman J. Foerstel of Martel
Hospital Pacific Inc., and also Mrs Frank S. Rines of Kavanaugh Realty
concerning the feasisbility of financing a 25. to 50 bed hospi-
tal for Rohnert Park,
The general steps to accomplish this were outlined by Mr.
Foerstel as follows:
1. A non-profit corporation would have to be formed which
would include two Council&en on its Board of Directors.
2, The City would enter into a lease with the non-profit
corporation for the proposed hospital facility.
3- Possibly the City should arrange to sub-lease the
facility to an Association of Doctors.
Mr. Fberstel indicated that the cost of a hospital facility
would run about $15,000 per bed.
The City Manager was requested by the Council to get together
with Mr. Golis to arrange for a meeting of interested doctors
with Mr. Foerstel. Said meeting would be conducted by the
Council.
Following the discussion on the Hospital facility; discussion was
also held on the other financial - programs that the City might
be interested in undertaking; included in items discussed were
the Safety Building; Neighborhood B Park and Recreation Facilities;
and expansion of sewer facilities.
Mr. Fberstel requested a copy of the Safety Building specifics
tions$ a copy of the City Financial Budget for the Fiscal Year
1963-64, and a copy of the Audit statement when it's received
from the City's external auditors.
Mr. Fberstel indicated that he would like a letter from the
Council requesting any particular study that they might like
his firm to perform. He pointed out that his firm generally
does not charge for preliminary studies.
Adjournment There being no further business the meeting was adjourned at
