1981/06/15 City Council MinutesROHNERT PARK CITY COUNCIL MINUTES June 15, 1981 The Council of the City of Rohnert Park met this date in adjourned regular session commencing at 6:15 p.m. in the City Offices, 6750 Commerce Blvd., Rohnert Park, with Mayor Cavalli presiding. Call to Order Mayor Cavalli called.the meeting to order at 6:15 p.m. Roll Call Present:, (3) Councilmen Roberts and Stewart and Mayor Cavalli Absent: (1) Councilman Hopkins Staff present for all or part of the meeting: City Manager Callinan, Finance Director Netter, Director of Public Safety Dennett, Fire Services Commander Bick, City Engineer Brust and Recreation Director Pekkain. Municipal A brief discussion was held concerning the meeting to Homeowners be held on June 23rd at the San Francisco Airport`Hilton Insurance concerning Municipal Homeowners Insurance. City Manager Callinan,was-instructed to indicate that two Councilmen will be'present at said meeting. Sonoma County Fair A brief discussion was held concerning Rohnert Park Day at the Sonoma County Fair which is scheduled for Tuesday, July 28th. All Council members indicated-that they would plan on attending on said date. Chamber Installation City Manager Callinan reminded the Council members of the Rohnert Park Chamber of Commerce Installation Dinner being held June 24th at the Green Mill Inn. Proposed 1981 -82 A work session commenced concerning the proposed City City Budget Budget for fiscal year 1981 -82 as submitted to the City Council by City Manager Callinan. The City Manager indicated that in the transmittal letter two additional goals should be listed, being: (1) The study and possible establishment of a central stores operation in the expanded Corporation Yard facilities, and (2) Study and possibly implement a program of assigning a separate vehicle to each Public Safety officer in order to reduce vehicle maintenance costs and to prolong the useful life of vehicles. A detailed review of the budget by the Council followed with the City Manager and the respective department heads participating in the discussion of the various areas of the budget. The Council was advised that $10,000 will be added to the General Government Expenditures section of the Arl i ni mninant .J Page 2 budget for anticipated election expense in connection with the scheduled 1982 municipal election. Under the Capital Outlay Fund budget, City Manager re- quested that Eagle Park Swimming Pool be listed and under the School Grounds section that the installation of curb, gutter and drainage at the Rancho Cotate High School track -be added as a possible project. The budget was reviewed page by page and in addition to the budget document and the- contents thereof being discussed, the Council also discussed the pros and cons of implementing the program of 'assigning a vehicle to each Public Safety officer, compensation to the Planning Commissions and the proposed Senior Citizens Drop -In.
