A RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROHNERT PARK
APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING THE FORMATION OF A
CITIZENS ADVISORY COMMITTEE TO HELP PREPARE
A PARKS AND RECREATION PLAN INCLUDING THE COMMUNITY FIELDS
(PARKS MASTER PLAN AND COMMUNITY FIELDS CITIZENS ADVISORY COMMITTEE)
WHEREAS, the Rohnert Park General Plan provides for the creation of Community Fields on
approximately 50 acres north of Crane Creek and west of Petaluma Hill Road (OS -13 p. 5 -17); and
WHEREAS, on October 26, 2004, the Rohnert Park City Council unanimously approved a
motion to establish an informal committee to travel to the City of Redding to tour its regional sports
complex and to report back to Council on November 23, 2004;
WHEREAS, on November 10, 2004, a contingent of citizens and staff traveled to the City of
Redding facility, and on November 23, 2004, reported back to Council sharing pictures and comments on
the trip;
WHEREAS, officials in Redding strongly recommended that Rohnert Park should create a
special citizens committee to formulate a plan for creation of the Community Fields; and
WHEREAS, on November 23, 2004, the Rohnert Park City Council unanimously approved a
motion to create a Community Fields Citizens Advisory Committee.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Rohnert Park,
California, that it does hereby authorize and approve the formation of a Parks Master Plan and
Community Fields Citizens Advisory Committee of up to twelve (12) members to include seven (7) at-
large community members, three (3) members of the Parks and Recreation Commission, and two (2)
members of the Planning Commission.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Committee shall perform functions and duties as may
be directed by the City Council including proceeding with a marketing study and needs assessment, as
well as formulate project proposals for Council to consider, re- examine park structure in the City, and
coordinate with the development of a parks and recreation master plan for the community.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that it is the intention of the Rohnert Park City Council that this
Committee shall function in an advisory capacity and shall not be an administrative body.
