2005/03/08 City Council Resolution (2)RESOLUTION NO. 2005- 54 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROHNERT PARK HONORING JEFFREY H. JUSTICE FOR HIS DISTINGUISHED SERVICE AS A PUBLIC SAFETY OFFICER WHEREAS, Jeffrey H. Justice began his affiliation with the City of Rohnert Park October 24, 1995 as a volunteer Police Aide. Three years later on December 14, 1998, he was hired by the City as a full -time Public Safety Officer; and WHEREAS, in 2002, Officer Justice became a member of the Sonoma County Multi Agency Gang Enforcement Team — known as MAGNET. His exceptional knowledge of gangs and gang members has made him an invaluable resource to all county agencies and his expertise has helped to control criminal activities in our community as well; and WHEREAS, Officer Justice was instrumental to the successful prosecution of several high profile criminal cases within Sonoma County and he is often requested by members of the District Attorney's office to testify as an expert in criminal street gang activity; and WHEREAS, in 2003, Jeff received a Certificate of Appreciation from the Sonoma County Sheriff's Department for exceptional performance while assigned to the County Gang Enforcement Team. Last year in March, Jeff received a letter of appreciation from the Petaluma Police Department for his work with their department. In September, 2004, Officer Justice received a Letter of Commendation from Deputy District Attorney Spencer Brady for his personal commitment and dedication during an investigation of a gang related murder. On February 24 of this year, Officer Jeff Justice was selected by the Sonoma County Law Enforcement Chief's Association as the Outstanding Law Enforcement Officer of the Year; and WHEREAS, in his spare time, Officer Justice received an Associates Degree in Criminal Justice. Jeff is truly a team player and a model officer. In a relatively short period of time, he has developed into an experienced gang officer and has proven his value many times by making quality arrests, sharing his knowledge of criminal gang members and their activities, and providing assistance to all Law Enforcement Agencies throughout the County. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Rohnert Park recognizes and honors Officer Jeffrey H. Justice for his extraordinary accomplishments in law enforcement and appreciates all that he does to enable our citizens to live in a safer community.
