2005/06/14 City Council Resolution (3)RESOLUTION 2005-165
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROHNERT PARK
Honoring
Arturo "Art" Ibleto, the Pasta King
As an Honorary Citizen of Rohnert Park
WHEREAS, Arturo "Art" Ibleto came to the United States from the town of Sesta Godano in northern
Italy. He came of age during Mussolini's regime where he longed for freedom and will be the first to say
that freedom is the most important thing in life; and
WHEREAS, Ibleto found his freedom when he moved to America and settled in Cotati, California. He
described it as "a place where if you like to work, there's plenty of work and you can go any place you'd
like to go". In 1951 he married Vicki Ghiradelli; and
WHEREAS, although he has been a field
worker, truck driver, mechanic, butcher, farmer, and freedom fighter, Art Ibleto is best known as The Pasta King; and
WHEREAS, Art began serving his outstanding, authentic pasta in 1974 at the Spaghetti Palace on the
Sonoma County Fairgrounds. The first year he cooked about 300 pounds of pasta in two weeks. Now he
cooks that in half of a day. Art Ibleto and the Pasta King quickly became household names in Rohnert
Park and throughout northern California; and
WHEREAS, Art passionately serves his tasty dishes throughout the local communities and even up to
the Oregon border. He caters weddings, funerals, school fundraisers, county fairs. Recently he served
600 people during a political event. As numerous non-profits will attest, Art's pasta is only exceeded by
his generosity. He can be counted on to provide his good-natured service from pasta wagon-even
in the rain for a worthy cause; and
WHEREAS, Ibleto has added Sonoma Bella Wine production to his list of occupations, with his Pinot
Noir winning a Harvest Fair Gold Medal. 75 acres of grapevines now grow in his fields where Christmas
trees once stood - across the street from The Pasta King headquarters.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Rohnert Park extends
its best to Arturo Ibleto, The Pasta King, for continued success with his family, pasta, wine, and one day
perhaps, a book.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that Art Ibleto's name be added to the Honorary Citizens of Rohnert
Park plaque as he truly is a pillar in this community.
DULY AND REGULARLY ADOPTED this 14th day of June, 2005
