2005/10/11 City Council Resolution (5)RESOLUTION 2005 -302
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROHNERT PARK
Recognizing two Rohnert Park Heroes
LINDA SKOGBERG & CARL HELTON
Good People in our Community
WHEREAS, Linda Skogberg is Carl's hero and rightly so; and
WHEREAS, she works for Old Adobe Development Services, Inc. (OADS) as a supervisor and
has been observed by those exercising their dogs at G -Park as exceptional in the way in which
she interacts with the developmentally disabled employees she supervises. Linda worries about
such things as if they are warm enough, cool enough, or need a drink; she jokes with them and is
wonderfully kind and loving. Since Linda came aboard, the difference in GADS' staff has been
remarkable. Under Linda's tutoring, many of the employees have blossomed; they work, they
sing, they smile; and
Even though Linda is not in the newspaper headlines and expects no recognition, she is a hero —
Carl's hero. He told us so. He said that she "even called to check on him on her day off'; and
WHEREAS, Carl is a gentle, kind, compassionate employee of Old Adobe and the City Council
wishes to honor him at this time:
WHEREAS, Carl came to the rescue of one 80+ year -old gent who was at G -Park with his dog.
The old fellow fell and Carl rushed to help him. Carl was heard to say, "let me help you up,
brother; you can lean on me." Carl is a hero too. Bonnie Black told us that he was her hero. He
helped Bonnie to find her car keys that she lost in the park.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Rohnert Park that
we are privileged to recognize Linda and Carl just for being good people in our community who
go about their daily lives doing good things for others and then, one day, find out that they are
someone's hero.
DULY & REGULARLY ADOPTED by the Rohnert Park City Council this 11th day of October, 2005.
