A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROHNERT PARK
Approving and Authorizing
Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety
TO EXPEND FUNDS AWARDED FROM FEMA ASSISTANCE TO FIREFIGHTERS GRANT PROGRAM, 2003
WHEREAS, in March, 2003, the Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety applied for the Federal
Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program; and
WHEREAS, funding from this grant will modernize the department's Self Contained Breathing
Apparatus (SCBA) that are becoming obsolete because the manufacturer stopped producing spare parts.;
and
WHEREAS, SCBA is vital safety equipment required when public safety personnel perform rescue
operations and fight fire in a smoke - filled atmosphere; and.
WHEREAS, modernization of SCBA equipment will keep the department in compliance with National
Fire Protection Agency (NFPA) 1404 guidelines as well as 29 CFR (Code of Federal Regulations) 1910
and 134 and state labor safety requirements; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Rohnert Park does
hereby approve the FEMA Assistance to Firefighters Grant award EMW- 2003 -FG -00769 in the amount
of $150,210.00 with an obligation of 10% in matching funds from the City's current budget of
$16,690.00
