A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROHNERT PARK
Honoring
CLIFFORD JAMES ESTRADA
Corporal, United States Marine Corps
For Service in Current U.S. Conflict
WHEREAS, Clifford James Estrada, affectionately known as C. J., is a life -long resident of Rohnert Park. He
attended Richard Crane Elementary, Mountain Shadows Middle School, and graduated from Rancho Cotate. C. J.
also worked for the Rohnert Park Sports Center; and
WHEREAS, twenty -one year old Estrada joined the Marines in the summer of 1999 and rapidly moved through
their ranks, achieving non - commissioned officer status of Corporal by April 2001; and
WHEREAS, Corporal Estrada was assigned to the 15' Marine Expeditionary Unit aboard the USS Peleliu.
After the September 11`'' terrorist attack, the USS Peleliu was deployed to the Arabian Sea. By November 20,
2001, Corporal Estrada was in country in Afghanistan; and
WHEREAS, unless summoned elsewhere, Corporal Estrada is scheduled to return to Camp Pendelton in
Southern California March 3, 2002. His family, extended family, dog George, neighbors, and friends eagerly
await his arrival home for a joyful welcome -home celebration; and
WHEREAS, it is indeed an exceptional young man who is willing to pledge his life, if necessary, in defense of
America and freedom. On September 11"', our Nation reeled under multiple savage terrorist attacks which
shattered our sense of security. We owe our very freedoms to brave men and women such as Corporal Estrada
who are willing to stand against threats to our soil and to protect our free society.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Rohnert Park that by this
Resolution it thanks, honors, and salutes Corporal Clifford James Estrada and anticipates his safe return home.
DULY AND REGULARLY ADOPTED by the Rohnert Park City Council this 22nd day of January, 2002.
