2002/03/26 City Council ResolutionResolution No. 2002 -55 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROHNERT PARK Honoring VICE MAYOR LINDA SPIRO for Fourteen Years of Dedicated Service to the City of Rohnert Park WHEREAS, Vice Mayor Linda Spiro was first elected to the Rohnert Park City Council in 1988 with a deep commitment to public service; and WHEREAS, Linda wanted a city government that would be open and responsive to the people, one that would listen to all sides of an issue before making a decision. Linda has been a team player who felt that most problems could be solved through a team effort. She has gone out of her way to find and acknowledge those in the community deserving of special recognition; and WHEREAS, Vice Mayor Spiro has been extremely active in the business community. She was the fast female Rotarian in Sonoma County, she was recognized in the International Who's Who of Professional and Business Women for Public and Community Service, and she served as Board Member of Sonoma State University's Athletic Association for eight years; and WHEREAS, Linda Spiro, over a span of fourteen years, including 3 terms as Mayor, has helped shape Rohnert Park into the City we see today. Her decisions have affected numerous individuals. She fought to bring quality jobs, affordable housing and safe streets to Rohnert Park; to protect open space while encouraging City growth, and to enhance economic development for the benefit of current and future residents; and WHEREAS, Linda has always had a "soft spot" for senior citizens and youth and has devoted countless hours to helping both. We will think of her when we pass the Boys & Girls Club or refer someone to the recently renamed Families and Children Commission (better known to Linda as Community Outreach for Youth and Families (COYF). We will remember her when we walk past the Japanese Gardens or drive over the new railroad crossing. Without question, Linda has left her mark! NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Rohnert Park that it extends its best wishes to Vice Mayor Linda Spiro for a relaxed, fulfilling life with husband Rick, children, and grandchildren. We sincerely thank Linda for her outstanding and dedicated service to the Rohnert Park community. She will be missed. DULYAND REGULARLYADOPTED this 26th day of March, 2002.
