2002/09/24 City Council Resolution (7)Resolution No. 2002- 219 A Resolution of the City Council of the City of Rohnert Park Amending Resolution No. 2000 -99 Establishing a Policy for the Rotation of the City Council Members into the Office of Mayor WHEREAS, Resolution No. 2000 -99 Establishing a Policy for the Rotation of the City Council Members into the Office of Mayor was adopted May 23, 2000; and WHEREAS, the City Council is unable to comply with certain sections of Resolution No. 2000 -99 that rotated certain Council Members into the Offices of Mayor and Vice Mayor who will not be Council Members at the time their rotation is scheduled; and WHEREAS, the City Council wishes to clarify the sections of Resolution No. 2000 -99 relating to seniority. NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Rohnert Park does hereby resolve as follows: Section One. Section 3 of Resolution No. 2000 -99 shall be amended to read as follows: In case of equal seniority, then an affirmative vote of a majority of the City Council will determine who shall succeed to the office of the Mayor layer and the Vice Mayor Meyers� for that next year. Section Two. Section 5 of Resolution No. 2000 -99 shall be amended to read as follows: Four (4) years shall elapse between each council member's term as Mayor or Vice Mayor unless the circumstances outlined in paragraph 6 below occur to prevent the implementation of the four (4) year period; or unless all other council members are serving their first term in office or held the office of Mayor in the year immediately preceding the year in which offices are under consideration. Section Three. Section 7 of Resolution No. 2000 -99 shall be deleted. Section Four. Section 8 of Resolution No. 2000 -99 shall be deleted. DULY AND REGULARLY ADOPTED this 24th day of September, 2002.
