RESOLUTION OUTLINING FENCING REQUIREMENTS IN
RESIDENTIAL DISTRICTS
WHEREAS, the City of Rohnert Park requires, as a part
of architectural approval of new single family residences,that
fencing be installed, and
WHEREAS, the City Council desires to be more explicit as
to just how much fencing, its height, and location is required.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE Rohnert Park City Council does hereby
resolve as follows:
1. All lots on which a single family or other residential
use is constructed shall be fenced along the rear lot property line
and the two side lot property lines, and across the front of the lot.
2. Fencing along the rear lot property line shall be for
the entire length of same.
3. Fencing along the side lot property lines shall extend
streetward to the front of the garage structure on the garage side
of the residence and to the front of the residence on the residence
side of the structure.
4. Fencing shall be constructed across the front of the lot
so as to leave no openings. At least one gate must be installed in
the fencing.
5. Fences shall be 6' 0" in height unless a lesser height
is specifically required or approved by the Building Inspection Dept.
6. Fences shall be installed in accordance with good standard
practice and workmanship. Fences must be of good quality wood or
metal material, the quality of which must be approved by the City
Building Inspector. All fencing shall be set true to line and
elevation.
7. Fence posts shall be set in concrete not less than
3' 0" below ground elevation. Wood posts shall be redwood, minimum
4" x 4", and spaced not more than 8' 0" apart.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Building Inspection
Department is directed to require of builders of in excess of four
(4) residences which are adjacent to each other, a fencing plan
which clearly indicates the location of fencing proposed for
installation.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that these guidelines are not to
be construed as representing all the requirements relative to
fencing and may be considered waived when specific conditions relative
to fencing are placed on developments processed as special matters,
such as Planned Unit Developments.
DULY ADOPTED this 4th day of October, 1971.
