RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF ROHNERT PARK REGARDING
CIVIL STRIFE AND DESTRUCTION OF
PROPERTY ON COLLEGE CAMPUSES
WMER.EAS® the City of Rohnert Park is a general
law city duly organized and existing under the laws of the
State of California, and
WHEREAS, Sonoma State College is situated irw.,.edi-
ately adjacent to the boundaries of the City of Rohnert
Park, and
1.,THEREAS, the Council of the City of Rohnert Park
commends the staff and student body of Sonoma State College
for the min um amount of campus disruptions which have
occurred at Sonoma State College, and
WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Rohnert Park

THE CITY OF ROHNERT PARK that the public welfare can best
be served:
(1) By a College Administration that will promptly
and strictly enforce existing laws and campus regulations
against those students who would disrupt the orderly process
of education on our campuses,
(2) By a College Administration that will recognize
that attendance at a public university is a privilege which can
and should be promptly and summarily withdrawn from those who
will not abide by such laws and regulations,
By a legislature, Board of Regents and Boar
of Trustees that will promptly supplement existing laws and
campus regulations where needed to stop the recurring violence
and disorder on our college campuses®
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolutioM

RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF ROHNERT PARK REGARDING
CIVIL STRIFE AND DESTRUCTION OF
PROPERTY ON COLLEGE CAMPUSES
WHEREAS, the City of Rohnert Park is a general law
city duly organized and existing under the laws of the State
of California, and
WHEREAS, Sonoma State College is situated immedi-
ately adjacent to the boundaries of the City of Rohnert Park,
and
WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Rohnert Park
commends the staff and student body of Sonoma State College
for the minimum amount of campus disruptions which have occurred
at Sonoma State College, and
WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Rohnert Park
deplores the continued civil strife and the resulting destruction
of public and private property which has taken place on campuses
of colleges throughout the State of California, and
WHEREAS; the City Council believes that while communi-
cation between administration and student must be maintained so
as to give due consideration to any dissatisfaction arising among
students, it is imperative that existing laws and campus regu-
lations be promptly and strongly enforced in order to put an end
to such campus disorders, and
WHEREAS., the City Council believes that attendance at
a public institution of higher learning is a privilege which
must be summarily suspended and withdrawn from those who seek
to disrupt the orderly processes of education upon our campuses,
and

WH REAS, -� City Council believes thac in the event
existing laws and regulations are not sufficient to allow
administrators to deal promptly and forcefully with violators,
then new and more stringent laws and regulations must be adopted
without further delay.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COU1vCIL OF THE
CITY OF ROHNERT PARK that the public welfare can best be served
(1) By a College Administration that will promptly
and strictly enforce existing laws and campus regulations
against those students who would disrupt the orderly process
of education on our campuses,
(2) By a College Administration that will recognize
that attendance at a public university is a privilege which
can and should be promptly and summarily withdrawn from those
who will not abide by such laws and regulations,
(3) By a legislature, Board of Regents and Board of
Trustees that will promptly supplement existing laws and campus
regulations where needed to stop the recurring violence and
disorder on our college campuses.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution
shall be sent to the President of Sonoma State College, to the
Office of the Governor of the State of California; to all local
legislative representatives, to all appropriate committees of
the State Legislature, to the Board of Regents of the University
of California, to the administrators and trustees of the State
College system, to all City Councils within the County of Sonoma,
to the League of California Cities, and to the Department of
Health, .Education and Welfare; and the Municipal and Superior
Courts of Sonoma County.
