1969/03/03 City Council Resolution (3)RESOLUTION NO. 69 -19 RESOLUTION CONCERNING PROPOSED SANTA ROSA- ROHNERT PARK CONSOLIDATION WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Rohnert Park has read in the local newspaper the noble gesture by that colorful entrepreneur and Santa Rosa Councilman, Hugh B. Codding, relative to a consolidation of the cities of Santa Rosa and Rohnert Park; and WHEREAS, we have noticed Santa Rosa's difficulty with a certain downtown garage; and WHEREAS, we have also heard of Santa Rosa's financial straits relative to their sewage treatment facility; and WHEREAS, we are advised that Santa Rosa is now attempting to develop a golf course as Rohnert Park already has; and WHEREAS, the City of Rohnert Park has considerable experience in many of these matters; and WHEREAS, the City of Santa Rosa has always been considered a very close friend of our community; and WHEREAS, there has always existed a high level of cooperation between the cities of Santa Rosa and Rohnert Park.; and WHEREAS, when a friend is in difficulty it is not the time to abandon them. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Rohnert Park that for the reasons mentioned above, and doubtless countless others, this City Council pledges its full cooperation and consideration of the consolidation proposal if it can be shown that such a consolidation would assist Santa Rosa to the alleviation of some of their problems. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that if such a consolidation is deemed advisable, the most expeditious manner to accomplish this might well be a simple annexation of the City of Santa Rosa to the City of Rohnert Park. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Rohnert Park. City Council is prepared to meet with the Santa Rosa City Council in an appro- priate setting, such as on Todd Road, to discuss this matter. DULY AND REGULARLY ADOPTED THIS 3rd day of March, 1969. Mayor AYES: (5) Councilmen Buchanan, Hopkins, Rogers, Smith & Roberts NOES: (0) None ABSENT: None ATTEST: Deputy City Clerk.
