RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF ROHNERT PARK REQUESTING
THE SONOMA COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS TO CANCEL
TAXES ON CERTAIN MUNICIPAL PROPERTIES
WHEREAS, the City has acquired title or control of
certain properties in the conduct of municipal activities; and
WHEREAS, the properties are more particularly des-
cribed in the following deeds:

AIRPORT.
WHEREAS, various meetings have been held with other
governmental and civic units in the County of Sonoma to dis-
cuss the establishment of an airport facility to serve:
southern Sonoma County; and
WHEREAS, at said meetings the availability of the
old Cotati Navy Auxiliary Air Strip at a very reasonable price
for such a facility was brought to the City Council's atten-
tion; and
WHEREAS, an airport facility in southern Sonoma
County would serve more than one community and thus should
be operated.by
the County
of
Sonoma.
NOW,
THEREFORE,
BE
IT RESOLVED that the Council of
the City of Rohnert Park does hereby request that the Sonoma
County Board of Supervisors acquire and develop the old Cotati
Navy Auxiliary Air Strip as a second airport for Sonoma County;
and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the County Board of
Supervisors is requested to act expeditiously in this matter
so as not to lose the opportunity to acquire this site with
its existing runway improvements at a very reasonable cost.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that copies of this
Rna.rd of Supervisors,
is further requested to have the taxes paid pro -rated as of
the date of the recording of the deed and any excess taxes
paid refunded to the City of Rohnert Park, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Board of Supervisors
is requested to cancel all unpaid taxes, penalties and costs
which are liens against the properties described in said
deeds.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a copy of this resolu-
tion be forwarded to the Sonoma County Board of Supervisors,
the County Auditor, the County Tax Collector & Treasurer, and
the County Assessor.
