1972/03/06 City Council Resolution (5)RESOLUTION NO. 72- 31 RESOLUTION CONCERNING PETALUMA HIGH SCHOOL DISTRICT TAX RATE ELECTION WHEREAS, on March 21, 1972 the public is requested to vote on a 68� tax rate increase for the Petaluma High School District, and WHEREAS, if passed, said tax rate increase would place the maximum operational rate for the district at $2.23, and WHEREAS, with the spiraling cost of educating students and operating school facilities the Petaluma School District has found it necessary to cut back programs during the current fiscal year, and WHEREAS, the Petaluma High School District is spending approximately 230 less than the state average on a per pupil basis, and WHEREAS, the Petaluma High School District has not had a tax rate increase election in eight (8) years. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Rohnert Park that it does urge all citizens in the Rohnert Park area to vote on March 21. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Rohnert Park goes on record as endorsing the proposed tax rate increase as an interim measure in helping the Petaluma High School District solve its financial dilemma until such time as a complete overhaul of school financing is enacted by the state.
