A RESOLUTION OF THE ROHNERT PARK CITY COUNCIL
APPROVING THE USE OF UNCLAIMED SPAY/NEUTER DEPOSITS FOR
PUBLIC EDUCATION ADVERTISING
WHEREAS, Assemb I y B i I I No. 1663, as amended, was passed i nto I aw
required an animal shelter to collect a deposit for the purposes of
spaying and neutering dogs and cats as a condition of adoption, and
WHEREAS, Ordinance No. 465 amended the Rohnert Park Municipal
Code to include the necessary requirements, as outlines in AB 1663, and
WHEREAS, Resolution No. 86-81 established deposit fees for dogs
and cats, and
WHEREAS, the City has collected such deposits many of which are
deemed unclaimed according to the provisions of AS 1663, and
WHEREAS, AB 1663 and Resolution No. 86-81 allows the City, to use
unclaimed deposits for, among other things, a public education program
to prevent overpopulation of dogs and cats, and
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the C i ty Counc i I of the C i tV of
Rohnert Park that the sum of $1,610, to be paid from unclaimed
deposits, shall be used to purchase public education advertising in
the Rohnert Park-Cotati Clarion on a weekly basis for a total of 46
weeks.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that such public education advertising
shall encourage the public to spay and neuter dogs and cats in order
to prevent overpopulation of dogs and cats and shall encourage
adoption of dogs and cats from the Rohnert Park Animal Shelter.
DULY AND REGULARLY ADOPTED by the Rohnert Park City Council this
