A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING PURCHASE OF A GTE PRISM
PUBLIC SAFETY SOFTWARE SYSTEM AND AUTHORIZING EXPENDITURE
IN FISCAL YEAR 1990-91

WHEREEAS, the City currently has a Hewlett Packard Computer System
3000 with an operating system of NPE V-Delta-2; and
WHEREAS, Hewlett Packard has notified the City of Rohnert Park that it
would not support the NPE V-Delta-2 operating system past March. 31, 1990;
and
WHEREAS., the Department of Public Safety currently operates on the
Hewlett Packard 3000 with software provided by Public Safety Systems, Inc.
(PSSI); and
WHEREAS, if the City updates its operating system, the PSSI soft-ware
package will not function; and
WHEREAS, support by PSSI has been declining over the past couple of
years to a point where it is negatively affecting the operation; and
WHEREAS, it is essential for the City to upgrade its Hewlett Packard
operating system from MBE V-Delta-2 to MPE V-Delta-8 in order to rraximize the
current software systems run by Finance, Public Works, and other
departments; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Public Safety has researched Public Safety
system and have provided a report and recommendations to the City Manager;
and
WHEREAS, the Department of Public Safety recom nds the purchase of a
GTE PRISM with a B-CAD which will run on our existing Hewlett Packard 3000
system cAhen the operating System is upgraded to at. least an NPE V-Delta-5;
and
WHEREAS, the costs of the GTE PRISM with B-CAD is estimated to be
$35,000 which includes installation data conversion, training, support and
maintenance for the first year.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Rohnert
Park that it authorizes the purchase of a GTE PRISM with B-CAD at a cost of
-approximately $35,000.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED 'L"HAT the $35,000 is authorized and appropriated
in the fiscal year budget 1990-91.
