A RESOLUTION APPROVING A JOB DESCRIPTION AND SETTING A PAY RATE
FOR ARTS CENTER HOUSE MANAGER (Part Time Position)
BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Rohnort Park that the job
description for the position Of Arts Center House Manager, which 1s attached to
this resolution and by reference thereto incorporated herein, and the pay rate
for same as listed below is hereby approved:

ARTS CENTER HOUSE MANAGER
DEFINITION
September 1990
Under general supervision; to supervise and perform a variety of front house
activities during arts center performances; and to do related work as required.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Opens and readies lobby and concession areas of arts center before
performances; provides security during performances; locks secures arts center
after performances; responsible for general cleanup, i.e. vacuuming moving
furniture, etc., before and after performances; maintains security of arts center
keys; coordinates performance information with box office, backstage, and /or
rental representatives; supervises concession staff, ushers, and volunteer arts
center staff; provides backup for ushers, concessioniers, and box office staff;
prepares rental requests, prepares and makes nightly deposits and reports;
organizes, distributes and maintains in -house and local publicity; collects and
counts all ticket stubs from ushers; responds to a variety of requests for
information concerning the arts center functions and policies; provides general
assistance to groups attending events; operates office equipment; operate lobby
chimes; may operate a computer terminal.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of:
Basic operations, policies, procedures, and functions of a performing arts
center;
Basic mathematics;
Receptionist and telephone techniques;
and
Ability to:
Maintain courteous and tactful, but firm relationships with the public;
Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships;
Perform a variety of office assignments without close supervision;
Perform a variety of office assistance work;
Perform manual labor such as lifting and moving furniture and equipment;
Think clearly and act quickly in emergency situations;
Understand and carry out oral and written directions;
Prepare clear, concise, and accurate records and reports;
Provide supervision and training to arts center personnel.
and
Training and Experience: Any combination of training and experience which
would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying.
A typical way to obtain this knowledge and ability would be:
Two years of increasingly responsible theatre house management,
host/hostess, or restaurant work experience.
