1992/01/28 City Council Resolution (9)RESOLUTION NO. 92- 13
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROHNERT PARK
DECLARING WEEK OF JANUARY 25 -31, 1992 AS
"WINTER STORM PREPAREDNESS WEEK"
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Rohnert Park is cognizant of the
fact that Sonoma County winters are noted for diverse weather conditions, which
may include snow, hail, torrential rains, high winds, and pounding surf along
the coastal areas, and that these conditions can result in extensive property
damage, personal injury, and occasionally even death; and
WHEREAS, the City of Rohnert Park is well aware that Sonoma County is in
its fifth year of drought and no one knows for certain what the winter of 1991-
92 will bring; and
WHEREAS, following extended periods of rain, areas within floodplains have
historically been inundated by flood waters which threaten life and health and
damage property; and
WHEREAS, since flooding is historically Sonoma County's most common
recurring disaster, it is only prudent to prepare for floods in our future.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Rohnert
Park does hereby declare January 25 - 31, 1992 as
"WINTER STORM PREPAREDNESS WEEK"
and that all Rohnert Park citizens are urged to observe apapropriate safety
measures to protect themselves and their families during the winter months.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to
Governor Pete Wilson and to the Sonoma County Office of Emergency Services as
evidence of the importance the City of Rohnert Park places on the observance of
this significant week.
DULY AND REGULARLY ADOPTED this 28th day of January, 1992.
