RESOLUTION COMMENDING DELANE E. PATTON
ON THE OCCASION OF HIS RETIREMENT
WHEREAS. Delane Patton, affectionately referred to as "Del ", is retiring his position
as Public Safety Supervisor (Lieutenant), effective March 31, 1992, thereby bringing to a
close 30 years of dedicated service with the City of Rohnert Park; and
WHEREAS, Del was first hired as a Maintenance Man in the Department of Public
Works in April, 1962 when the City was still a district; and
WHEREAS, Del was sworn in as a Policeman on the City of Rohnert Park Police
Department's first day of operation, July 1, 1963; and
WHEREAS, at the time of his appointment as a Policeman, the Police Department
consisted of a Chief and two officers and was strictly a police department; and
WHEREAS, in February 1971 Delane was selected as "Peace Officer of the Month" by
Chief Robert E. Dennett; and
WHEREAS, Del has been a dedicated and productive employee for which he was
promoted to Investigator on August 1, 1972 and later to Sergeant on January 1, 1974; and
WHEREAS, the position of Sergeant was re- classified to Public Safety Supervisor
(Lieutenant) in 1977, of which Delane has served through the present; ad
WHEREAS, during his tenure, Delane has successfully completed countless courses in
law enforcement and fire services; and
WHEREAS, from December 1, 1980 to present, Delane has assumed the duties of Fire
Marshall (Fire Inspector) and Assistant Fire Services Commander in the City's Fire
Services' Division of Public Safety; and
WHEREAS, Del has performed his duties and responsibilities in a competent manner
and has been well known for his courtesty, honesty, and dependability; and
WHEREAS, Del will be sorely missed by those associated with him during his years
with the Department of Public Safety.
A'Off THEREFORE, I, Linda Spiro, Mayor of the City of Rohnert Park, do hereby go
on record as expressing on behalf of the City Council of Rohnert Park, appreciation and
gratitude to "Delane Patton" for his many years of dedicated public service with the City
of Rohnert Park.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be suitably prepared
and presented to "Delane" as evidence of the City Council's appreciation.
DULY AND REGULARLY ADOPTED this 24th day of March, 1992.
