A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROHNERT PARK
Honoring and Recognizing
ROGER L. PEARSON, DIRECTOR, SONOMA COUNTY LIBRARY
Upon his Retirement, March 7, 2001
WHEREAS, Roger L. Pearson began his life in Galesburg, III — (which incidentally was also the birthplace of Carl Sandburg). He enjoyed
traveling and new career challenges and has moved about living in such fascinating cities as Green Bay and Madison, Wisconsin; Chicago,
Illinois; and Corpus Christi, Texas; and
WHEREAS, Roger holds both a Bachelor's and Master's Degree in Sociology and Urban Sociology. He is a veteran of the U.S. Peace Corps
where he served in Brazil, South America; and
WHEREAS, Roger's library career began in the suburbs of Chicago as a Bookmobile driver and concluded in Sonoma County as Director where
he retired March 7, 2001; and
WHEREAS, Roger worked diligently with the City Manager, staff, and the City Council in the development of a state -of -the -art library facility; and
WHEREAS, this library will stand as a permanent reminder of the vision, leadership, and expertise of Roger L. Pearson.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Rohnert Park recognizes and honors Roger L. Pearson upon his
retirement for his diverse accomplishments. We wish him the best in his continued travels — whether by power walking or AMTRAK.
