A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROHNERT PARK
Honoring and Recognizing
SERGEANT DONALD WAGNER and PUBLIC SAFETY OFFICERS DANIEL MARQUEZ, MICHAEL BATES and JOSEPH FRY
FOR THEIR COURAGE IN THE FACE OF GRAVE DANGER
And PUBLIC SAFETY DISPATCHERS KIM CATES, LORI LUSCOMBE and ANGIE MEROSHNEKOFF
WHEREAS, a shooting incident on the ill -fated morning of May 4, 2000 at Rancho Verde Mobile Home Community placed
many innocent civilians in danger; and
WHEREAS, in response to the situation, four officers bravely stepped forward to protect these people despite tremendous
personal risk as they confronted an armed gunman shooting at homes, and cars, and terrorizing people; and
WHEREAS, these four officers as well as many residents of Rancho Verde were aided by the clear- thinking, expertise,
calmness, and professionalism of three Public Safety Dispatchers; and
WHEREAS, the four officers who risked their lives in order to restore the safety of Rancho Verde Mobile Home Community
were Sergeant Donald Wagner, Officer Daniel Marquez, Officer Michael Bates, and Officer Joseph Fry. The three
Dispatchers who assisted and stood by anxiously awaiting the outcome of this grave situation and fate of their colleagues
were Kimberly Cates, Lori Luscombe, and Angela Meroshnekoff.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Rohnert Park recognizes, honors, and applauds
these seven individuals for their courage and law enforcement skills and publicly thanks them for the peace of mind and
sense of security that their presence brings to the residents of our City.
DULY AND REGULARLY ADOPTED this 10TH Day of April, 2001.
