A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROHNERT PARK
Proclaiming
The Week of September 91h as
Alzheimer's Awareness Week
WHEREAS, the Alzheimer's Association, North Bay Chapter opened their Sonoma County program office in Santa Rosa on June 9, 1999 to better serve the
citizens of Sonoma County; and
WHEREAS, the Chapter provides a wide variety of free services and programs to the thousands of Sonoma County families that suffer each day from the
effects of this dreaded disease; and
WHEREAS, the Chapter is responsible for raising all necessary funding from the local community to support those critically needed services and programs;
and
WHEREAS, the Chapter held it's first Sonoma County Memory Walk on October 7, 2000 attracting over 500 citizens and raising over $74,000 to support the
mission of the Alzheimer's Association to increase public awareness of the disease, to provide support and assistance for families, and to support research of
the cause and cure for Alzheimer's disease; and
WHEREAS, the 2nd annual Sonoma County Memory Walk will be held on Saturday morning September 151h at Spring Lake Park and is expected to draw
over 750 citizens as participants.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Rohnert Park that it joins in supporting the efforts of the North Bay Chapter to
increase participation in the 2nd annual Sonoma County Memory Walk 2001 by declaring the week of September 9th as Alzheimer's Awareness Week and
commends the North Bay Chapter for outstanding success in serving the needs of Patients and Families in Sonoma County.
