A RESOL UTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROHNERT PARK
Congratulating
KATIE KAUFMAN
On Awards Earned at the 2001 Junior National Wheelchair Championships
WHEREAS, Katie Kaufman has competed for five years in wheelchair sports competitions; four years at the National
level; and
WHEREAS, she has worked diligently to actualize each of her many athletic talents and has displayed remarkable self -
discipline and determination in striving to reach her goals; and
WHEREAS, Katie recently competed on the East Coast against 220 athletes to win the coveted 1' Place Award in both
Archery [breaking the National record] and in the Javelin Throw; 2nd Place Award for Discus Toss, and 3rd Place
Awards in Shotput and Table Tennis, which she began only recently; and
WHEREAS, the City Council, Staff, and Citizens of Rohnert Park are honored at the example Katie is setting for our
youth, as well as adults, to have the courage to `push themselves" (figuratively and literally) to excel in a chosen field.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Rohnert Park that it hereby extends its sincere
congratulations to Katie Kaufman. We are confident that she is equal to whatever challenges lie ahead in realizing her
life -long dreams.
