2001/10/23 City Council Resolution (4)Resolution No. 2001 -220 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROHNERT PARK SUPPORTING November 15, 2001 as America Recycles :Day WHEREAS, as we look forward to Thanksgiving, our annual celebration of America's great bounty, it is appropriate to observe America Recycles Day and focus on how to preserve that bounty for future generations; and WHEREAS, reducing waste and purchasing products made from recycled materials are among the easiest and most effective measures every American can take to conserve our resources and create a cleaner environment which will aid our economy as well by creating approximately one million jobs Nationwide and $100 billion in revenue; and WHEREAS, recycling has increased and will continue to increase as a result of education and community action; and WHEREAS, there are several ways to help preserve our environment, i.e. buying products that feature the recycling mark, avoid buying items that have excessive packaging, using a lunch box instead of throwing out paper bags every day, using cloth instead of paper napkins and a sponge instead of paper towels, reusing bubble /foam packing, and composting yard clippings; and WHEREAS, another way to help our planet is to commit to recycle items such as paper and cardboard, milk cartons, juice /rice /soy boxes, glass bottles, jars, plastic bottles, and metal cans as well as Greenwaste. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Rohnert Park does hereby support: November 15th as AMERICA RECYCLES DAY and urges citizens to take personal responsibility for the environment by recycling and choosing products made from recycled materials. DULY AND REGULARLY ADOPTED this 23rd day of October, 2001.
