SENIOR CITIZENS ADVISORY COMMISSION
OF THE CITY OF ROHNERT PARK
DRAFT REGULAR MEETING MINUTES
Thursday, May 19, 2016
The Senior Citizens Advisory Commission of the City of Rohnert Park met this date at Rohnert Park
Senior Center, 6800 Hunter Drive, Suite A, Rohnert Park, for a regular meeting to commence at
1:00pm.
Call to order
The meeting was called to order by Chair Sampson 1:02pm
1. Roll Call:
Present: Chair Sampson, Commissioners Ackerman, Garvey, Abbott
Absent: Burton (excused absence)
Staff Present: Mitch Austin, Community Services Manager
John McArthur, Director of Public Works and Community Services
2. Pledge of Allegiance:
The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Chair Sampson
3. Acknowledgment of Meeting Agenda Posting:
Community Services Manager Austin acknowledged posting of the regular meeting agenda at the
required public places per Brown Act requirements.
4. Public Comment:
Chair Sampson requested that the public hold their comments until the corresponding topic is
discussed.
Dishwahers was requested for the kitchen to clean the dishes. Currently there is only a dish sanitizer.
It was also reported that mold was building up under the sink and kitchen staff asked the City to
resolve this issue.
5. Approval of Minutes:
With no objection or comments from the Commissioners, Chair Sampson approved the minutes from
the January 21, 2016 regular meeting of the Senior Citizens Advisory Commission.
6. Activities Report
a. Dining Site –The Council on Aging Dining Site Manager gave updates on upcoming meal
offerings and plans for special event meals. 50 people attended the St. Partrick’s Day
Luncheon.

7. Parks and Recreation Commission Liaison Report:
Parks and Recreation Commissioner Bonnie Black reported out the Commission’s efforts to update the
Parks and Recreation Facilities Master Plan.
8. City Council Liaison Report: None
9. Community Services Manager Report:
a. Staffing Structure
Manager Austin shared an organizational chart indicating showing a full-time Community
Services Coordinator being hired to oversee the center and a Community Services
Supervisor helping to oversee the center as well.
Capital Improvement Update
Manager Austin reported on plans to replace the roof on the Senior Center and pave the
front parking lot.
Resprentatives from the Rotary of Rohnert Park-Cotati presented plans for a Peace Garden
on the back of the Senior Center.
Results of Survey
Manager Austin reported on the results of the survey.

Adjournment- There being no further business, Chair Sampson adjourned the regular meeting of the
Senior Citizens Advisory Commission at 1:54 p.m.
