REGULAR MEETING
Thursday, September 21, 2017
The Senior Citizens Advisory Commission of the City of Rohnert Park met this date at Rohnert Park
Senior Center, 6800 Hunter Drive, Suite A, Rohnert Park, for a regular meeting to commence at
1:OOpm.
1. Senior Citizens Advisory Commission Regular Meeting - Call to Order/Roll Call
Chair Sampson called the meeting to order at 1:OOpm, the notice for which being legally noted
on September 21, 2017.

Loreen Abbott, Commissioner
Cheryl Burton, Commissioner
Nancy Garvey, Commissioner
Caryl Sherman, Commissioner
Absent: None
Staff Present: Director of Public Works and Community Services McArthur, Community
Services Manager Bagley, City Clerk Buergler, and Community Services
Program Coordinator Deeter.
2. Pledge of Allegiance:
The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Chair Sampson.
3. Acknowledgment of Meeting Agenda Posting:
The regular meeting agenda was posted at the required public places per the Brown Act
requirements.
4. Approval of Minutes:
With no objection or comments from the Commissioners, Chair Sampson approved the minutes
from the May 18, 2017 regular meeting of the Senior Citizens Advisory Commission.
5. Senior Center Report
a. Council on Aging Dining Site Manager
Community Services Program Coordinator Deeter presented on behalf of the Council on
Aging. The Council on Aging has reported that an average of 130 lunches are being served
out of the Senior Center dining room each week and as well as an average of 440 meals on
wheels are being delivered each week.
b. Community Services Program Coordinator
i. BINGO Update
Deeter presented the report. The Friends of the Rohnert Park Senior Center BINGO
game has made just over $29,000 since the last report provided in May 2017 which
totals to just over $56,000 since January 2017.
6. Parks & Recreation Commission Liason Report
Parks & Recreation Commissioner Black presented the report which included an update on
park audits. Audits were completed earlier in the month and a comprehensive report will be
drafted to summarize the results.
7. City Council Liason Report
Councilmember Belforte presented the report which included an invitation to the upcoming
Town Hall Meeting on October 4, 6:00-8:OOpm at the Community Center, an update on the
State Farm property, the City's purchase of the Re/Max building, Padre Town Center update,
repaving of Snyder Lane & the upcoming community input meeting regarding development of
the downtown area.
8. Community Services Manager & Director Report:
Community Services Manager Bagley presented the report which included an update on the
new Second Sunday Family Fun Series events.
9. Communications
City Clerk Buergler presented on the upcoming change in terms of office for the City
commissions, committees and boards.
10. Public Comment
None.
11. Matters to/from Commissioners
a. Water Aerobics & Folk Dance Classes
Bagley notified the commission of the new Water Fitness class offered on Tuesdays,
Wednesdays and Thursdays from 11:OOam-12:OOpm at Honeybee Pool. Discounts
are given to those that are members of either the Senior Center or the Callinan
Sports and Fitness Center.
Deeter notified the commission of the new SRJC Folk Dance class offered on
Tuesdays from 2:45-4pm at the Senior Center.
12. Adjournment
There being no further business, Chair Sampson adjourned the regular meeting of the Senior
Citizens Advisory Commission at 2:14pm.
