Committee Members and staff convened at Rohnert Park City Hall. Chair Stephen Gold called the
meeting to order at 5:35 PM.
2. Introductions
Chair Gold commenced introductions.
3. Public Comment
There were no members of the public present.
4. FIELD VISIT & DISCUSSION: Rohnert Park SMART Station (900 Enterprise Drive,
Rohnert Park, CA) and Vicinity
Committee members and staff traveled to the Rohnert Park SMART Station for a site visit and
observations.
There was discussion of various topics about the site, including:
• Lack of wayfinding signage. The Committee members noted that the Rohnert Park Station
needs: (1) signage to clearly indicate how to get to the multi-use path on the other side of the
tracks from the platform; (2)signage on adjacent streets (Rohnert Park Expressway and
Enterprise Drive)to help orient travelers once they have left the platform; (3)wayfinding signage
on the Multi-Use Path indicating major destinations; (4)other wayfinding signage indicating
public resources like Public Safety Headquarters and Library.
• Bicycle and pedestrian transition and crossing area at Rohnert Park Expressway. The
Committee members discussed the design of the"gate"/fence that is installed at the crossing and
meant to direct pedestrians to cross the rail line at an appropriate and safe location. They also
discussed the need for an audible signal;the placement of the"push button to cross" signs to aid
pedestrians crossing Rohnert Park Expressway; and need for a barrier on the north side (west side
of rail)to prevent unsafe crossing.
• Restroom facilities at station site or nearby. There was a desire to have a restroom facility at
the Station. There was also discussion about nearby public facilities, and whether wayfinding
should indicate the nearby public restroom facilities (e.g. at Library).
• Trash cans in parking lot. It was noted that there are adequate trash cans on the platform, but
none in the parking lot.

Committee members noted that the bike racks and lockers appeared to be adequate for the Station.
There was also general discussion about the future of the Station with the development of the former State
Farm site.
5. FIELD VISIT & DISCUSSION: Cotati SMART Station (980 East Cotati Avenue, Cotati, CA)
and Vicinity
Committee members and staff traveled to the Cotati SMART Station for a site visit and observations.
It was noted that the Cotati Station was built with additional funding from the City of Cotati for a more
developed facility than the Rohnert Park SMART Station. Committee members noted the Cotati Station
building, water fountain, trash cans. It was also noted that the crossing at East Cotati Avenue has an
audible signal, unlike the Rohnert Park Expressway crossing.
The additional discussion about the site included:
• Lack of wayfinding signage. The Committee members noted that the Cotati Station also would
benefit from signage that would help orient travelers to the adjacent streets, nearby resources and
destinations.
• Restroom facilities at station site or nearby. One of the committee members spoke to a
bicyclist at the Cotati Station, who indicated that a restroom here or somewhere along the Multi-
Use Path would be helpful.
6. Adjournment
The Committee adjourned the meeting at approximately 6:30 PM.
