MINUTES
January 26, 2017
The Planning Commission of the City of Rohnert Park met this date in a regular session commencing at 6:00
p.m. in the City Hall Council Chambers, 130 Avram Avenue, with Chairperson Haydon presiding.
Call To Order
Chairperson Haydon called the meeting of the regular session to order at
approximately 6:00 p.m. with Chairperson Haydon leading the pledge.
Roll Call
Present: (3) Commissioners: Commissioner Blanquie, Commissioner Giudice,
Commissioner Haydon were present. Commissioner Adams and Commissioner
Borba were excused.
Planning Manager, Jeffrey Beiswenger and Recording Secretary, Suzie Azevedo
were present.

Abstention
Acknowledgement of
Chairperson Haydon acknowledged the posting of the Agenda of this meeting in
Public Noticing
three (3) public places, per the requirements of the Brown Act.
Approval of Minutes
A motion was made by Commissioner Giudice, seconded by Commissioner
Blanquie to approve the minutes of the December 22, 2016 regular Planning
Commission meeting as presented. The motion passed with a 3-0 vote. (AYES: ,
Blanquie, Giudice, Haydon; NOES: None; ABSENT: Adams, Borba)

Discussion — Options
Planning Manager, Jeffrey Beiswenger, presented the staff report. He stated that

communications with the City Council on important issues. The purpose of this

discussion item is to identify a preliminary list of issues and to weigh different
City Council
options to convey the information to the City Council. Mr. Beiswenger outlined
significant areas of responsibility for the Planning Commission and provided the
Commission with a "what is coming up" list and options for methods of
communication to consider.
Discussion was held to determine "topical areas" of interest to the Commission for
future meetings and communication effort with the City Council for direction and
future action:
• Housing — Short term rentals/accessory dwelling units/affordable housing
• Parkin — Impacts to neighborhoods/circulation

Further discussion included preferences for the following:
• Guest speakers — Regional/local agency attendance at Planning
Commission to update on specific activity, i.e. water/SCWA; real estate
market trends/local realtor etc.
• Policy decisions to be heard in joint session with City Council.
• Topic drill down; simple report or memo to City Council communicating
what Planning Commission is thinking.
• Periodic joint meeting to take a hard look at a project or development.
